TK Fleming, 6’3 220, DB, Benton High School, Last played at Copiah-Lincoln Community College.[this from Varsity Preps].
"TK Fleming entered the 2010 season as one of the top prospects in nation. There was never a doubt about his talent, but there were several question marks about his maturity and ability to stay out of trouble. Despite warnings from his high school coach, Fleming seemed to always be in the wrong place at the right time. Fleming racked up four arrests before the start of his highly anticipated senior season. His high school coach was forced to kick him off the football team.
Even with Fleming not paying his senior season, several high-profile schools were still hot on Fleming’s trail. LSU was the leader for his services along with UCLA, Tennessee, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Mississippi State and Louisville.
“Back then, I was just an immature high school kid, not a thug nor a criminal. I made a big mistake, but if I weren’t in the spotlight for two sports, no one would know of it.”
According to Rivals.com, Fleming was the 16th ranked prospect in Louisiana’ 2011 class, and in addition to being one of the top high school football players in the country, Fleming led the nation in the high jump and the triple jump his junior year at Benton High School.
Fleming’s road to redemption made a stop at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Mississippi, where he was named All-Conference defensive back his freshman year.
“I learned a lot at Copiah. I wished I could’ve played my second year there. I bonded with a lot of people there.”
Fleming’s freshman season was interrupted when he was sentenced to a short jail sentence for unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.
“Right now, I’m trying to get back on track. I’m staying in shape, and looking for a junior college to attend this fall. I would like to give it another shot at the D1 level.”
“One of my goals is to show everyone that the guy they thought I was in high school isn’t me. God blessed me with many talents; I’m not going to let them go to waste.”
Fleming has surrounded himself with family and a strong support system since his release.
“My family and my second family, the Crows, have stood behind me 100%. They never turned their backs on me.”
The road to redemption for Fleming has been anything but smooth. There have been bumps along the way, but Fleming is hopeful that an opportunity awaits at the end of this road".

What a waste of talent.

If he wasn't a thug or criminal, who is?

Too late for him to play at LSU.

He was VERY athletic, but raw. We now have players/recruits just as athletic and more refined at their positions. No need to take the chance, he'll get to play at a smaller school.

We can get Jeremy Cutrer in 2 years. Cutrer could be a beast CB or safety. Way more potential than Fleming

Let's hope TK can turn things around and I wish him well!

I do agree that he'll likely have to do it at a lower profile program than LSU, but maybe some D-1 school will give him a shot. No doubt he has enormous talent.

For sure. He should be happy with the opportunity to play anywhere

So does every other recruit at LSU. Some of the guys we've gotten in the last 2-3 years are arguably more athletic and dominant at their positions. Especially in the secondary.

You must have watched him a lot at Benton, but the chances of him playing at LSU are slim to nil. Miles would have given him a chance a few years ago but that ship has probably sailed.

I'd agree with this if there were only one incident for which he got in trouble, but because of the pattern in his behavior, especially after high school, I think it goes beyond "being in the wrong place at the wrong time."

This was no reason to kick a young, promising athlete off of a team. Give the guy a chance.

He has one year left to play JUCO. I'm sure there is a program in MS, TX, or KS willing to give him a shot.

Cmon yall dont rip on him that bad. He was just immature in highschool and didnt realize how blessed he was to have that talent. His dad just recently passed awayand now Tk is really working hard to get a spot on a team. I have never seen anyone near as athletic as he is. I mean the dude is 6'3" 225 and runs a 4.3 and high jumps 7 feet and held the NATIONAL triple jump record.

Maurice Clarett got his life back in order

There is true contrition in his words. I don't usually buy when people have completely run off the rails, then 'see the errors they've made.'

I heard him yesterday on ESPN radio. He sounded so grown up.

His situation is way, way different than Flemming's. But the light at the end of the tunnel is always there....it's just a matter of, literally, looking for it.

I have no doubt that if he never got in trouble he would be starting over Craig Loston this season. Better size and way better speed. They both hit like a Mac truck. I was extremely dissappointed when he didnt make it to LSU because it has always been my dream to play at LSU and if i couldnt then the next best thing is for one of my friends to play for them. He would have been a star. I always tell him that he has too much talent to at least make a living playing football. If a college wont take a chance on him then he could walk on to an NFL team and at least make the practice squad. Does anyone know what a practice squad player makes? A ballpark number?

Doubtful. Loston is also an athletic freak who was a better safety coming out of high school.

Y'all can drool over Flemings measurements for years. Fact is I've seen several players like him who didn't make it in college or pros.

Fleming broke Frankie Gaston's track records. But Gaston was also a phenom football player who was practically untouchable on the football field. The only person on our team who could catch and tackle him was his cousin, another track star who ran a 4.27 hand timed 40 and won several track championships at LaTech. Gaston would single handedly beat teams as a scrambling quarterback.

Neither Gaston nor his cousin made it on a college football team, even though they dominated in high school. Their elite athleticism wasn't enough. It takes a lot more than just athleticism to be a captain of the defense, which is what safety has to be at LSU.

T.K. was a stud, no doubt about it. Hope he gets his shite together. Problem is, this isn't the first we heard this kind of talk from him.
