Armand Williams had 16 TD catches in 4 years of HS ball. Spears had 17 in one year. Both are similarly built, but one can catch the ball. He isn't rated highly because he's unknown.

LSU needs big receivers, so he's a no brainer take.

Take your two cents and shove them up your arse. Fortunately for Cethan Carter, who is a great kid by the way, he wont have to worry about LSU "wasting their time" on him.

This is my wish list now that we know a little more of what is going on

Willis
Bower

If not Willis then Burns.

And try and end it with a safety.

Now this is the list knowing what the other guys will do.

Maybe someone can explain to me why fans of other schools and not even fans of other Louisiana in state schools are always trolling the LSU RB? Seems to me, if you were a true fan of the school you say, you wouldn't be worried about what LSU is doing.

I'm surprised that anybody would knock the Spears offer. It's a total no-brainer. Of course you give that guy an offer. We need a tall, rangy, productive possession reciever even if we preferred a deep threat guy.

I can't wait for you dumbasses to eat crow. Go read your pay site and bitch when we take a "3 star." ...Mo Claibornes only offer was La Tech also for a long time. Spears is a damn good pick up. Tall Louisiana reciever with amazing potential. He is not the filler...carry on princess.

Spears is a project

I'm a little worried about our history with WR projects. Armand Williams at least held an offer from Bobby Petrino. I was excited about the kid's size and athleticism. If he can't play WR, why hasn't he played safety, or receiving TE?

I do think Spears is a late bloomer and definitely has a lot of upside (but I thought that about Williams). I can't think of a comparable player, but these are changing time.

I agree on Carter. I think we make room for Willis (and RN, unlikely as it is) if he decides on us, but it is looking more and more likely he will go elsewhere.

If he'd taking Leslie's place that's fine but if not, I don't like it.

I'm pretty sure this is the calculus, though, objectively, it looks like a big step down. I'm not sure the recruiting services will increase their valuation of Spears based on an LSU offer in the same way they would if he committed to USCw, Bama or Notre Dame - ultimately I don't care as long as he develops into a starter and becomes a solid player.

Sweet. Looks like Spears will get the bump usually saved for Gumpville offers.

That is good news. It makes sense that our staff would be way ahead of most other big programs, due to proximity. You can't teach height and I think his athleticism is remarkable. I hope it translates to getting open and making catches at the next level.

What makes some of yall think that the coaching staff has just "given up" on some of these guys?

No question that Spears would commit, but Miles will pull in one more target on signing date, but you can't blame him for trying to bring in two more, these kids are very talented. Who knows, Miles may even have a 'secret commit'...coaching staff knows what they are doing.

Rewatching Spears' film he does seem to have potential. I just didn't want the offer to fill spots just bc we have them. Hopefully that's not true. Definitely like Spears over Baker though.

Spears might end up being best player in this class.

Think before you talk.

You seem like the project imo

Maybe he will be. Why wasn't his name brought up all year until now if he's not going to be a project? His stats should have been speaking for him all season but I'm just hearing if him recently.

His stats actually are pretty good. Maybe we just weren't paying attention? I know I wasn't. Was there any particular reason anyone here would have been following a basketball player at Holy Cross who had only played football for one season prior to last season? Or does it make sense that he got a lot better, put up nice numbers, and then people noticed?
