Here's my two cents.
It seems the staff is assuming we don't get Willis and goodman. Ok so they start shooting for spears and maybe carter... I'm not buying in on either. I mean lets face it, how many low star no names can end up like a Jacob Hester?.. Not many. It seems like they are just trying to fill spots at this point. Would u rather have the pen spot to count back for next year or fill every spot you have for 2013? I myself would not waste my time on carter, I got two TE this yr and Washington next year. Spears is a project, and though I usually trust our coaches' projects, I'm concerned about trying this one so late in the game. I don't want to knock on the guys' offer list, but how come no one else wants to gamble on him? If he'd taking Leslie's place that's fine but if not, I don't like it.

It just kinda seems Ike we are filling spots with some in state guys that aren't SEC championship caliber... And if I'm wrong ill be the first to eat crow. I just think if RN, Willis, and goodman don't workout, I don't want to scrounge up in state last minute guys that no one has heard of just to fill spots.

What makes some of yall think that the coaching staff has just "given up" on some of these guys? Cuz we go sign a guy (Spears) who is 6'3 190 has 1100 yards receiving in his first year playing ball with over a 17 yard average and 11 TD's? Chill out...Goodman and multiple others are scheduled to visit next weekend and Nkemdiche the following one. Whether or not they come or not is on them but the coaches aren't giving up and settling for "no names"!

I think Carter was a grey shirt offer, right?

Spears is a project but I think that is why we took him. QL's replacement after QL goes pro. Dude might be the next Graham for the saints type of thing only in college. Time will tell.

There are still two spots available and I don't think we have indications that they aren't for PW and Goodman!

If RN wants to join both of them then I someone will be asked to greyshirt.

A guy who has southern and la tech as his top two schools is a no name no matter what his stats were. Word will get out if ppl think he is a stud. I hate to say the A word and I know I'll get beat up over it, but they don't seem to be taking in state project guys, they won the last 3 of 4,and that's on 4 and 5 star pure bred athletes... And coaching of course.

I guess I may be a little butthurt settling for 2013 guys at this point. 2014 has promising stars written all over it. I just think I'd rather leave a few spots open if I miss out on my last few studs... Just me, but then again I don't make 4 mil a year!

Tre White is now a 5 star and his offer sheet looks weak. STFU because you obviously don't know shite.

Raheem Falkins is probably more of a project than Spears

And since the 06-07 season we're 4-4 with that awesome recruiting "A Team"...

Spears is low profile because he is a late bloomer. He started playing football during his junior year and was extremely raw because he was only a basketball player before he gave football a try. Going from almost nothing to over 1k yards and double digit TD's in one season means he has immense natural talent. Guys who have big offer sheets are typically the ones who have been known for a while and have been evaluated by big schools from the time they enter high school. Morris Claiborne was a 3-star WR/QB in high school.

Why don't you think before saying stupid shite. Bama's class is loaded with three stars. I watched 5-star RSJ, I watched Spears' highlights, and I wouldn't trade Spears for RSJ. Usually I ignore stars and look at offer sheets. Be ause Spears was such a late entry to football, I'm ignoring both and going by his highlights (super impressive) and our coaches.

You have to trust the staff on recruiting. They have done a great job during Miles tenure.

I think he was hyped up due to his size and athleticism. He is far from being polished. He did not look like a natural receiver at all during the all-American game. He was thrown to on many occasions and I don't think he caught a pass.

Nobody knows what Willis will do. The coaching staff sent coach Raymond and he had a sit down visit with him and his family. And he is going back on Monday. Right after the visit. So the coaching is working him hard.

I want to see what Artie burns is doing. He could be the one the coaching staff can flip from Miami to LSU. Nobody really knows.

And as far as reaching to just fill spots. I have enough faith in the coaching staff to say they know what they are doing when it comes to recruiting.

The Spears take is not an idication of us not getting 1-2 of the DBs we're chasing. We have room and the staff has wanted 4 wrs all along. He's just taking Baker's place in the class. We have 27 commits now with 2-3 of them not likely to sign. 29 spots are available but the staff hopes to save a couple for '14 since the state is so loaded. Basically we have 3-5 spots avaioable if the right players want in.

Remaining targets

Willis-staff feels good and is making the final push
Burns-the push is on but Willis is the priority
Jamal Carter-staff feels he's in the backpocket if they need him
Cethan Carter-if a spot is there they'll give a current offer
Riley-if a spot is available he'll get a current offer
Nkemdiche-staff likes where they sit but not someone they're counting on
Juco WR-Leslie is the want but they're vetting a couple of others just in case. Expect one to sign whther it's Leslie or someone else
Jackson-staff feels they can get him and I read into things as though he's a take all the way. Versatility
Foster-not happening and the staff knows it
Bower-we're in it more than most think. Nkemdiche is the priority and with him visiting last it may hurt our push for Bower
Keith Bryant-FSU bound likely but the staff has an in if they want to use it
Goodman-trying but they k now he's not coming

We'll have space for any of these that we push for and want in. No worries about space or taking numbers just for the sake of numbers. We'll save the openings for '14, which is a much better pool of prospects. Not one kid left on the board this year would be a reach imo. All are LSU caliber and worth a schollie.

For whatever reason, I think we get Willis. If we can Goodman to campus, I think we get him too.
