Does the Kyler Murrary Saga Hurt Hampton's MLB Draft Stock?

With Kyler getting drafted in the 1st round, getting the A's to allow him to play a season of football, then declaring for the NFL draft. Does that hurt a kid like Maurice Hampton's MLB draft position with teams being a little more reserved on drafted 2 sport guys that have D1 football futures?

This could also throw those 2 sport kids into a position where an MLB team says "hey, pick one, but if you want to play for us there is no football."

My concern isn't whether it helps or hurts LSU, but I think Kyler may have hurt the kids coming immediately after him like Maurice and the RB from Mississippi who just decommitted from Ole Miss.

It could but I doubt it because MLB teams know the Longshot of kids making it anyway.

Also the biggest part of the situation is that the As screwed up. They should've demanded he not play football. They should've foreseen this situation

I just think it’d put more money in his pocket because they’ll do whatever they can to not let him get on campus. The inverse though is Murray has set a new precedent in that Hampton can go to LSU, excel in football and baseball, and then potentially earn money while in school, and have truckloads of leverage as a junior. And there’s the risk you suck at both sports but that’s so low

It may affect it but he doesn't play QB, that is a massive part of this whole thing.

That’s almost always the case.

Ealy is first rounder he will play baseball but may commit to Clemson for football. Hampton is not a first rounder. He will be a tiger.

I thought they were borderline crazy for drafting him 9th overall. He's talented as a baseball player, but that seemed like a bit of a reach. But the part that made it almost crazy, to me, was that they had to have known ahead of time that they were going to HAVE to let him play football this past season, in order for him to agree to sign. And I would not draft a guy that high and then tell him it's cool to go play football. They likely knew of this risk and still went all in. That was dumb of them, imo.

I'd allow that for a player in the third round or so, maybe. There's just too much money involved now, as opposed to the days of Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders.

In this situation no...The two situations are not similar. MH has no football leverage bc he hasn’t played a down for LSU and so no one can really say if he’s going to be a great football player or not. I don’t think MLB teams who have him high on their board would even be concerned about picking him high bc they know once a 5-10 million dollar signing bonus is on the table MH will most likely take it (I.e. Zac Lee)
