Do we close with a bang? Or a whimper?

I realize the last four or five days of recruiting season is when half of the misinformation is circulated, but there is a lot of doubt about our final three.
Looks now like Chase may be our best bet, and Surtain and Foster are truly up in the air. I count Goodrich as gone.
If we lose two of these three, I don't see how we can declare this class a success, particularly if Surtain goes to our SECW rival.
We didn't close well last year (IMO), which is one reason I am concerned...

The class is not a success yet.
It is a good class at some positions like OL but is totally empty at DB and we lost 2 starters.
The only grade this class can get atm is an Incomplete.
Need DB's badly.

I know we missed out on Wilson, but we closed with Tyler Taylor and Chaisson, both of which I wasn't very confident about.
This staff seems to close pretty well so I'm hopeful that will continue.
In spite of all the BS floating around about Surtain heavily flirting with Bama, I think he'll be a Tiger in two days. Chase is (still) looking good. I guess the third spot is up in the air, but closing with those two will make it as "banging" as we could hope for.
Obviously, missing out on those two (especially Surtain to Bama) would severely hinder any momentum we have.. and be another nail in Orgeron's already fairly "pokey" coffin.

Losing Surtain would be a blow since we've been his leader.
Chase has been all over the place in his recruitment.
If we land Foster it means we came from way behind the pack to land him,.
Goodrich has three great offers between LSU, Georgia and Clemson.
I remember that losing Brock Berlin was the end of the world and then Joe McKnight was also a death blow.
We lost some ground in NE Louisiana under Miles watch but I think Orgeron will correct that. This was a down year for Louisiana talent. It had the fewest top level players since 2011. It's a strong group next year. LSU's bread and butter is Louisiana talent. 2019 will tell the tale.

It is, and is about to get better. But lets be honest we could close with Surtain, Chase and Jesus of Nazareth and there will be whining and complaining.

We missed on Wilson, Mathis, Ackers and Etienne, all late in the game.
I do not think this class is of the level we have grown to expect at LSU, particularly if we miss on Surtain and Foster. As others say, we have some nice linemen, but we will not have recruited to talent gaps at QB, RB and (without Surtain and Goodrich) cornerback. Our WR group still needs young help after Marshall, so lets hope Chase signs.
