Did Orgeron really assign Amite to Matt Canada??

An area that's a hotbed for football talent and you assigned it to the guy who does not recruit?
LSU jumped into the mix for Sopsher last October, a move made soon after Ed Orgeron replaced Les Miles as the Tigers’ head coach on an interim basis. Since taking over as the permanent coach, Orgeron has been able to lure Sopsher to campus a handful of times this spring, including a personal unofficial visit the weekend after “Boys From The Boot” and a return stop for the Tigers’ spring game in April.
Orgeron remains a key cog in Sopsher’s recruitment to LSU. The 6-foot-5, 280-pound defensive lineman made that clear earlier in the spring. However, the Tigers sit behind a handful of SEC rivals and other national powers in the race for Sopsher.
“Alabama, Oregon, Florida State, Auburn and Ole Miss,” Sopsher told SEC Country, when asked about his leading schools.
The absence of LSU was a head-scratcher, to say the least. Why didn’t the Tigers crack the top group of schools?
“Better communication,” he explained. “The communication has been good, but it’s been on and off. I think it could be better. We just need to start communicating better.”
While Orgeron is playing a role in Sopsher’s recruitment, offensive coordinator Matt Canada has been handed Tangipahoa Parish as his recruiting territory. Canada visited Amite (La.) High School to check on Sopsher and fellow 2019 5-star Devonta Lee during the NCAA’s Evaluation Period in May.
Canada’s message to Sopsher focused on his grades, which was one of the points emphasized to the 5-star lineman when he unofficially visited LSU earlier in the spring and also met with Orgeron.
“He’s a good dude,” Sopsher said of Canada. “He’s the offensive coordinator, but he seems cool to me. We talk about football and about academics, and he’s been telling me that academics come first. I’m a student-athlete first before football, because life after football, you’ll need your intelligence to move forward.”
While LSU trails a handful of other notable programs for Sopsher now, there are some positives. The fact that the elite in-state prospect has visited Baton Rouge twice this spring is encouraging for the Tigers’ chances. Now, it’s a matter of improving communication between Sopsher and Canada.
Consider Orgeron an integral component in this puzzle. Sopsher’s relationship with Orgeron dates back to the defensive lineman’s eighth-grade year. Orgeron used to recruit Tangipahoa Parish for the Tigers, and that longstanding bond has kept LSU alive in the race for the state’s No. 1 recruit.
“At the spring game, they were doing good. I liked how the defensive linemen get off the ball and how Coach O is working with them to get better,” said Sopsher. “I’ve been knowing Coach O since the eighth grade. I think LSU did a good job by naming him the head coach. He’s a good coach and he has a lot of experience, and I’ll be watching the defense [this season].”

I mean maybe Canada WAS the area recruiter.. but he sure as shite isn't recruiting the area now. So I'm a bit confused by the articles tactics.

I like how Sopsher went from 6-5 280 to his most current verified size of 6-3.5 330.
He shrunk but gained 50 lbs.

What’s the chance of us actually landing him? Honestly have no inside source or whatever but some people believe he’s a silent commit to Bama. If so, that’s pretty aggravating. Can’t expect to ever compete on bama’s level if you can’t keep the guys in your own backyard. Especially a DL commit that’s suppose to be O’s speciality. I hope O can figure out how to get him on campus.

He goes to Amite. So probably about a 20% chance.

How old is the article and quotes cited by OP? Referencing Canada 7 months later just doesn't make sense

So, according to your narrative, if we don't get Sopsher, blame Canada, who lost him despite heroic efforts of the Head Coach (and former DL coach) Orgeron.
Gotta tell ya, the argument seems implausible, and in view of the swelling opinion that Orgeron MUST sign Sopsher for this class to be a success, it is suspicious.
Noting your post count and your apparent familiarity with LSU recruiting, it makes me wonder about your relationship with Da Coach O.
If we don't sign Sopsher, NOBODY will be blaming Canada, who seems to be an all-too- convenient scapegoat.

Great job linking the article asshat. This is probably from several months ago.

How much time and energy does Ed O spend shifting the blame for his failures to anyone but himself? The guy is a total embarrassment to LSU.

It's an old article someone on the paid site said O met Sopsher in 8th grade when someone said Saban was the 1st to meet him. I wanted to see if it was true and I ran into this SEC country article. They both met him in 8th grade but Saban was on him 1st
Josh Lemione who has inside sources in that amite area says it's 80-20 Bama right now but some Bama insiders say it's closer than that but all Say Bama leads for him

Posting an old article to talk shite about O is lame

With that being said, seems more likely to land Devonta Lee, though.

You guys are weird with how defensive y'all get towards O. I'm not an O hater or lover but assigning a guy who barely recruits in an area where we've struggle to keep talent from Bama is dumb

I assure you, that was his goal...bash O. He got his supporters in here too. At this point, it is sickening that admin continues to allow these individuals on here. Nothing good comes from it, but then these posters know that.

O is recruiting the kid...you dumb agenda driven asshat. Apparently you aren't smart enough to figure that out.
For the record, vol says it currently looks promising for him and Lee.

O fired the guy, seems lack of recruiting acumen may have been part of the reason. Starting a Matt Canada thread in July 2018 seems senseless

I don’t know, how about you tell us Tom!

Like many schools LSU uses a two-pronged approach. There's an area assigned, and then the position coaches/coordinators zero in on the majority of the targets as you get to evals and visits.
Having Canada assigned to an area with a priority recruit isn't a problem anyway, but if it was- Sopsher was Jr and evals/visits are limited anyway so there was no need to move to the second prong at that time. Area recruiter, phone calls/mailers, and camps is all you are doing for the most part at that time.
