Averaged 1.8 PPG last year at Mississippi St but this is potentially a big time pickup. He was hyped as a potential breakout candidate last year but didn’t fulfill that potential. Think of his game like Trey Murphy on the Pelicans.

Let's hold our horses here a bit.

This is a decent depth addition. Welcome aboard to Derek but let's not act like Durant committed. Let's see what he can do.

Yeah, not quite sure what to make of this guy.

He has good size and plenty of SEC experience. That is a definite plus. But he went from being an unheralded recruit to a solid contributor in his Freshman season at MSU. Only to then be a complete non-factor for them this season. Perhaps the arrival of Brooks and Jefferies as upper-classmen forwards pushed him out of the rotation.

Maybe he was just a poor fit for what MSU wanted to do and needed a new system/role? Given the current status of LSU's roster, beggars can't be choosers. But it is a bit concerning right now that with seemingly so much opportunity to play available, McMahon seems to be struggling to find solid frontcourt players in the transfer portal.

You replied to the lone post about this guy so I think it’s a stretch to pretend like anyone is hyping him up. With that being said, he averaged 20 minutes as a freshman and scored 20 against lsu his freshman year. He was starting at the end of his freshman year. His minutes were cut his sophomore year and that’s associated with his unimpressive stats on the year. I’m not speculating Fountain will be a super star but your comments appear naive and based solely on his numbers last year. His freshman year performance suggests he has more potential upside than you automatically writing him off as a dud.

Didn't he play really well against us in one game last year?

Yes. I was replying specifically to the "potentially bug time commit" comment.

No offense but frick this. We got Kansas out here cutting down the nets and we gutted our program for guys that can’t even get a bucket a game.

The year before last he had 20 points and 7 rebounds. This past year he only got 2 minutes.

Beggars can't be choosers but Hill and Coleman are the major gets so far of the transfers. Fountain showed some potential a couple years ago and he has some size, which we're sorely lacking, so there's that.

The really sad part is LSU had recruiting classes ranked in the top 10 just like Kansas but the product on the court was nowhere near as good.

It takes more than highly ranked recruiting classes.

I’m not acting like he’s Durant but he’s a guy that won’t make a headline that has the potential to be a quality SEC starter. There’s definitely a chance he flops but we have plenty of open scholarships to take a high upside player like Fountain.

That dude has hated on every player we’ve gotten this year except Hill because he wasn’t recruited by wade

That dude hated on Coleman, Hannibal, Hayes, C. Williams, and this guy

This guy is a perfectly fine take, so long as we're bringing him in as the 3rd or 4th option in the post rotation.

Which means you need to pull KJ Williams, Kenneth Lofton, Manny Bates from NC State or get either Efton Reid or Shareef to come back. Preferably a couple of guys off that list.

I wouldn't get upset about Fountain unless the next big man addition is somebody else who didn't put up any numbers, because that'll mean we're going to be asking Fountain to start.

I get it, we were supposed to have a good recruiting class, but let that go and focus on the guys that are gonna be here

I wouldn’t count us out on the ncaa tournament just yet (unless we get sanctions)

LSU will be sneaky good next year and McMahon from a coaching standpoint is a step up from Wade

Holy shite, this made me burst out laughing. No offense to this guy, I just find it all comical the hypocrisy of the NCAA. I miss Wade’s 3 5 Stars, yeah yeah he paid for them. Still on paper it’s a lot more fun than 1.8 PPG, and unranked centers. Wade was held to an impossible standard here, not saying he shouldn’t have been fired, but the program is majorly fricked for at least the next few years. I’m sure all the Wade shitters will be praising Matt for 13-18 seasons.

Has nothing to do with anything

I'm happy for the guys here and am happy to see them be competitive. That isn't mutually exclusive with not being wowed by a transfer or two

Will be tough considering the talent we have. I'm not saying we won't btw.

Literally no way to make this assumption yet. I hope he is but let's not act like Wade was not a very very good coach.

Your whole post is making assumptions but whatever.

McMahon's pre-hire resume is better than wade's
