Could Siaki Ika end up being another Haloti Ngata?

I've watched Siaki's video footage, and this kid has an unbelievably massive frame, and unreal quickness for someone of his mammoth stature. This kid at 351 lbs actually has the speed to be at least reasonably effective as a pash rusher, and maybe more than that.

It should be a given that it will be virtually impossible to run up the middle with this kid playing NT, and with his surprising quickness you could move him over to DE in certain situations.

If you look at his size and other measurables, its possible he could be a similar type player to Ngata, and if he turns into that, he will be an all time great, not only at LSU but in the NFL as well.

I'm really interested to see this kid play. I think he is going to be a very signficant piece to us beating the gumps, because if you can make Bama or any other team for that matter one dimensional, they become significantly easier to beat.

I saw him play some DE in some of his film. I dont understand how he moves the way he does with his mass. He also seems to have great hands

Wrong answer. TRant wants him to be a faillure, therefore the Shrimp Boat Captain is a failure.

Never give up.

Havent seen any film or know anything about Ika, but why is he rated so low if he is as athletic as you say at that size. Ngata was the #1 dt in the nation when he came out.

I agree...he has exceptional lateral movement for someone who's supposedly tree fiddy plus.

And this kid will take to coaching...I think, anyway. Ed needs to do his thing with him.

Dunno, but with him and Fehoko, LSU's new Haka Defense is stacked.

He's not rated that low.

Let's separate NT's from DT's, just as we do DE's from DT's. He appears to me to be about the 3rd highest ranked NT in the country in 2019, per 247.

It's a good get. Sopsher is probably the same position.

We need DT/DE's now.

Ika is a 4 star so I wouldn't exactly say he is rated low. Maybe the reason he isnt a 5 star is the quality of competiton in high school ball in Utah?

If you watch any of his video footage though, he is a total freak of nature, the kid is running down some QB's and actually rushing the passer effectively as a 350+lb NT. That is the reason he reminds me of Ngata, as that was the only NT in recent memory I can think of that had that kind of freakish size and quickness.

Taking into account the competition he played against does not take away from the fact that the unusual quickness he displays is going to give everyone problems that he is going to face.

Imagine the battles that Ika vs Kardell Thomas battles in practices this summer. That is going to be something to see. both of them are going to get significantly better playing against each other too, and that should be a scary freaking though for anyone that is going to play us next year.

No I see him more of a Domata Peko, or a Vita Vea. Or maybe, just maybe a Star Lotuleilei.

Yea he pretty much plays only like all the Samoan/Polynesian/Tongan Defensive lineman. I can’t see comparisons to any other players honestly.

I hope he doesn’t eat his way into the same doghouse Shelvin was in.

This is Tyler Shelvin's time coming up...now. Edwin just declared and is sitting out the bowl.

Let's see what we got!

Livingston, now Ika...that's what we got for yuge NT's.

Looks like Ika is already starting to be compared to both Haloti Ngata and Star Star Lotulelei.

If Ika ends up being anywhere close to the player Ngata was, he will have to go down as one of the best NT's DT's to have played in a very long time.

This is an older article but mentions the comparisons to both.

All the comparisons are Pacific Islanders.

I’ll take throw out Ika as the LSU version of Terrence Cody. But quicker.

And impossible to pass with Stingley. Hell, all Aranda has to do is stop folks from running around the end, and we won’t give up a first down next year.

Man, you probably said the same about Ed Alexander and Tyler Shelvin. Heck, Valentine too.

Look dude, of course this all theoretical at this point, but it's all we really have to go on right now

Siaka Ika is a 4 star DT, Stingley is a 5 star CB. Stingley is the #1 rated high school player in the country. From reports in LSU Fiesta Bowl practices he is already the best CB we have among the CB's that aren't currently injured. Considering Stingley is a 17 yr old kid and Dave Aranda said this, there is most likely a hell of a lot of validity to it.

Ika's video highlights are very impressive as well, and he is giagantic kid, with very surprising lateral quickness. I don't think it's being unrealistic to expect both of them to be major contributors to the team next year.
