That guy seemed to be 100% Lsu when he was here, and helped with recruiting. Whatever, Stud did to screw up recruiting there has to be fixed. Apparently, we need these high school coaches backing the tigers like shows did

You do realize that the current HC, Jerry Arledge, was not only on Don's staff forever, but he is also Will Blackwell's (Former LSU All-American OL) grandfather.

Don Shows was my high school coach. He would literally run Saban out of town if he knew he was sniffing around his program. We need more like him!!!

Sounds like he had the kids best interests in mind.

My coach, too, and you are right. Won’t be many like him...

We’ve been a lot better in that area post miles.

Amite is the next focus area.

I’ll say this as a warning. If you see a team like bama start to sniff around some three star kids and they suddenly get an offer, your first thought should be “what’s coming down the pipe there the next five years?”

Bama did this with Tangipahoa. They started sniffing around some lower rated kids years ago, then brought Petito on staff.

Makes me wonder about a guy like Slade Bolden. Not your typical bama recruit.

Slade was nothing more than Nick keeping his foot in the door at WM. Nick had always kept a good relationship with WM since his time at LSU. Head S&C coach at EM Casey Sanders and Nick have a good relationship from when Nick recruited his son Luke Sanders (linebacker) to LSU. Casey (along with 90% of the staff) is without a doubt a pro-LSU guy, but Nick has done a good job of keeping a strong relationship there, too.

Don Shows was my friend and golf buddy. He was all LSU. He wore an Auburn hate to the course one time and I questioned him about It and he did not realize it he said he got that from a coach. That is the only time i have ever seen him not in LSU gear. He went to Tech and i dont think i ever saw him in Tech gear

A Louisiana kid's best interest is going to LSU. Shows knew that.

Not only that, but he was O's DL coach at Northwestern State.

I was born, raised, and lived in West Monroe until I was nearly 34 years old and West Monroe is and always was LSU country. Makes me sick to see these kids from the area go to Alabama. I guess it was Coach Stud and Miles' lazy recruiting that caused these players to head to Bama?

Don Shows became the WM head coach early 1989 while I was a student there. We had won ONE game in 1988...he changed the culture in just a few years. The only thing I didn't care for with him was the way he treated the average fan. He kinda looked down on them if they weren't a Rebel Club member or part of the clicks of WM.
