Am I the only one that thinks LSU may only take 7 or 8 in state kids this year?

Committed

P. Todd Punter (tops in country imo)

I would say these guys are pretty much locks if they want in.

M. Smith DT
S. Ryan Ath
B.Thomas WR
C. Hilton WR
S. Jones DE
K.Williams S

Majority of other top rated players in state are at WR (Pazon, Nabers, Coleman).

Good time to be going even more national imo. Seems where O and Co are headed.

Pretty much. Might take 1-2 more if someone rises or we miss on somebody.

Shea said this today on the radio. We're looking nationally.

You may be right, but those are 6 guys we really want!

Just look at the lack of position diversity in LA. LSU is forced to look out of state for so many positions. I used to say that LA recruiting was an advantage. I am beginning to believe that it is not an advantage anymore. I don't know if it is the split or 7on7, but things just don't look the same when half of the top players in the state are all WR.

Man...at this point, we better be taking at least 7-8 in-State kids. The uncommitted kids remaining are starting to dwindle. Half the board is committed and we’ve only got a handful of dudes. Quay davis was another today—thought he was all LSU but now he’s committed to USC. I trust the coaches but damn if I’m not starting to get a little nervous.

Edit: of course this is downvoted, because nobody wants to have a real discussion. The fact is that we’re gonna have to close this class DAMN WELL to sneak into the top 5-8 classes in the country. I’m not saying we can’t do it, but it’s a fact that we’re currently behind, and are going to need an extremely high percentage of our remaining targets to choose us in order to wind up with a class that isn’t disappointing. I’m not saying that can’t happen, but it’s a fact that we’re behind. People who downvoted everything that isn’t overly sunshine fricking suck

Well there’s only 8 top 300 prospects in Louisiana this year. The top is great but not much after that.

??? We already have 2 OOS WR commits and we have Hilton and Thomas as 2 big in state targets which would be 4 WRs which is probably enough for the class

Recruiting has definitely changed some instate. I’m not really sure why though. I’d like to think it’s because we are more of a national brand now more than ever and only the absolute best players from Louisiana are takes. The projects that used to get offers because they were local isn’t happening anymore.

Lsu should always take at least 10-12 kids from Louisiana. The proof is in the pudding

LSU should only take 7-8 in-state kids this year...and every year. That's how many are usually truly elite players, like top 300, 4 and 5 stars, high 3s at "worst."

Beyond they 7-8, LSU SHOULD go regional and national to fill out the class with other elite players.

This year, LA has 10 4-stars and higher with 6 of them WRs. Who else in-state should LSU target? They look good for the 4 non-WRs. Should they take the 6 WRs just to say they got so many kids from LA?

They can commit whenever they want but they choose to wait and play the game. The difference now is, Coach O won’t let them hold us hostage and wait until NSD to pick someone else. You treat instate kids the same as out of state. If you want on board, you better pull the trigger. You either commit to a national brand or you don’t. Winning will solve the rest.

Nobody wants to have a discussion because the guys you are freaking out about are in their junior year of high school. If LSU still only has 10 commmits going into December then by all means panic.

Another thing to think about is O got bit last year by accepting commitments from guys early then having a numbers crunch in the end. I think you will see him be a bit more cautious this early on the process.

Definitely not a fact...seems like a projection...and an inaccurate one at that.

This year was a good time to win the NC to spread that national brand.

It does seem like the “down” years are becoming more common for Louisiana, especially for O lineman. Good thing we have a great coaching staff and a winning program to help LSU recruit out of state!

Jardin Gilbert, University Lab safety, is a possibility to earn an offer.
