Is there any truth to the rumor that Jabril Cox ruined us getting a grad transfer?
Supposedly if you accept a grad transfer they have to keep a certain GPA.
I am hearing that Cox did not keep that GPA.

He is still working on school work. We don't know yet. When does intersesession classes end?

If so, that is probably the stupidest rule i have heard with NCAA. He already graduated. He wasn’t coming here for school.

Come on, now. We all know this is true, but there's got to be at least the illusion that guys enrolled in school to play football are actual students.

For regular transfers i would agree. But a grad transfer is 9/10 here for fall semester and that’s it. If he is eligible for it to play, it shouldn’t effect the program the next year

Entirely possible. I heard he left school without completing his classwork. If that's the case he screwed us out of getting another graduate transfer for a year. LSU can appeal it but school rarely win those appeals.

So word on street is.
Don't count on us getting guard from Harvard because of this

How aren’t grades monitored weekly by someone in the AD?

They are but you can’t force someone to take a test they have no interest in taking.

And player weights.

What could a school do to combat this? it seems like there are zero consequences a school can impose on the athlete to ensure he finishes his classes.
That would be like fining the dealership for someone getting a speeding ticket.

During regular times, grad transfers get different rules and are eligible immediately. Thus the GPA requirement, to keep schools from taking advantage of the grad transfer program.
In present day dystopian America, where any player can transfer and get immediate eligibility, I don’t believe there will be any difference between grad and regular transfers.

I was thinking this but I guess there has to be some sort of minimum school requirement otherwise we're a farm team for the NFL for grad transfers with free scholarship money paid to the player. That said class load difficulty needs to be the bare minimum unless an mba, or advanced degree, is also a goal for the player.

I think the issue here is that he is actually not still working on schoolwork, and hasn't been for a while Hopefully it's something that can be worked around.

totally agree. if you already have an undergraduate degree... his grad GPA shouldn't matter
