Derek Stingley #2

3 5* on 247... same 3 should be 5* on composite.

no surprise on Alfano being #1, every publication was in awe of his UA performances

When a Bama commit is the other guy in the running, we all knew where this was headed.

And Stingley didn't play their games.

The rationale they provided was that DL is a premium in the NFL draft.

I would say he plays the wrong position more than anything. 247 is too beholden to aligning with the NFL draft and when was the last time a corner was taken first overall?

if they wanted to punish stingley for that, they could have done alot worse than putting him at 2.

Emery jumped Sanders after they reviewed all the film. "He doesn't have quite the same juice as Emery."

Not a matter of punishing him. It;s more that Alfano got more opportunities to wow them. I don't really care. Stingley was busy practicing with LSU while Alfano was playing his last HS game. He gets the #1 spot while Stingley gets ahead in his college career. I'll take the latter all day long.

That's Tom Luginbill, from ESPN, talk right there. Last time i followed him a few years ago he talked DL, OT, and QB as the premium positions.

Definitely. It shows us that he is focused on his future and not his past

Why are some of you acting like he's a 3* now? He's still ranked as the second best player in America, and will possibly end up as the #1 player on the 247 Composite.

What? Is espn updating their rankings again? Composite is pretty much done for the top guys.

We aren't.

Even 247 basically said he is the best player but was ranked behind Alfano because of his position. I just find that interesting since I don't think they have ever cited that as a reason for putting a player at #1 in prior classes.

One Brandon Smith from at understand my area. Small country HS.
The other is a kid that I've never heard his name until today. Lance Dixon I think it is. Kid moved to like 13 from nowhere. Comments even acknowledged 247 is taking a chance on the ranking.

They've used it in the past and are pretty open on the idea that DL, QBs and OTs are prioritized positions and slight bumps can be made for those positions. Since the draft is their model I have no issue with it. Most teams with the top pick would take the DL before the CB.

The composite #1 is gonna be tight. Nolan Smith has it with Stingley 3. Thibodaux is 2 and with both ahead of him on 247 he likely slides to 3. Stingley likely finishes a smidgen below Smith. He's higher in rivals and 247 but I think the difference will be Smith being higher by more on ESPN. Honestly don't know where Smith and Stingley are ramked on ESPN.

Have no issue with Alfano being #1. He has dominate film, elite testing numbers at his size and he was the best guy at Under Armour. He earned it. Thought it would be leal in a Myles Garrett type rise but he only got to 3.
