RECRUITING: Five-star 2023 LB puts USC in top 10

LSU should be a hard option to pass up, if the Tigers put the full-court press on Ausberry. He is an LSU legacy as his father Verne Ausberry played linebacker for the purple and gold and is now the executive deputy athletic director at LSU.

We need him for sure. Losing a lot at linebacker after this season.

They live in my neighborhood and I’m close with their next door neighbor. Don’t shoot the messenger, but I’d be surprised if we land either of them. Only consolation is they don’t like Bama.

Kids from U-High like to go other places besides LSU. They feel like they have already been on campus for years and want something new.

This doesn't just apply to the athletes. A ton of their regular students go out of state for the same reason.

Honestly, I have no idea. I think they’ve just been O close to the program for so long, more so even that regular UHigh kids, that they wanna adventure out. And Jaiden knows how good he is, so he ain’t scared of competition at any school. They’re not wild party kids either, so the “bling” of recruiting doesn’t really phase them. I think Austin will go to a school out West like Arizona St or SMU, but idk about Jaiden.

Consider the extenuating circumstances recently where their dad, employed by the university, got suspended with no pay for a month (not arguing if it was right or wrong, just stating a fact). Not to mention these kids go to UHigh, which is essentially on campus, and a lot of these kids just want to go out an potentially experience something different in the world.

U High has been more curse than blessing as far as recruiting for LSU it seems.

That would suck tremendously!! I was ecstatic about the LA classes in 22 and 23!! In 22 we get instate 5 stars at QB, OT, S as well as 4 star IOL in Jones all of which were at positions of need. Then in 23 I was dreaming of landing 2 instate stud LB’s in Jaiden Ausberry and Tackett Curtis also a position of need. Everything just seemed to be shaping up exactly as we needed instate to be able to take care of these positions

I love how people just make shite up to support their narrative. Take a look at any UHigh graduation program and you'll see that the school most kids go to by far is LSU.

Exactly. Maybe the athletes do want to leave the state for whatever reason. But the narrative that most Lab school kids don’t want to go to LSU because they have been on campus for so long just isn’t factual at all.

Jaquelin Roy begs to differ. Skylar Mays, Wayde Sims also just to name a few others

Not making shite up at all. Yes a good percentage of those kids end up at LSU because of TOPS and it being the biggest in-state school.

But the graduation program doesn't tell the whole story. The idea of already being on campus forever and wanting to look at something different is very real for those kids. When push comes to shove money talks and it's hard to pass up TOPS, but that doesn't mean the sentiment isn't still there. Given the chance to leave, many students take it.

There is no narrative to push. I'm a huge LSU fan. Of course no want all of those kids to play at LSU. But I went there. My friends went there. My siblings went there. I'm just telling it how it is.

Eta: I'm just talking about the sentiment at the school. It's a little different for the athletes because most of them only go there for a few years. You know, HS football recruiting and all.
