Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian five-star defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux has a plan in place for his recruitment.

The No. 1 ranked prospect in the 2019 class by the 247Sports Composite Rankings, will have plenty of schools to choose from.

And he's wisely spending as much time as he needs in the recruiting process.

"Everyone is under consideration and I'm considering all of my options," said Thibodeaux. "My plan is to decide before my senior season and then enroll early. After this season is done, I will sit down with my family and we'll discuss where I will visit this spring."

Thibodeaux made the move to Oaks Christian from Los Angeles (Calif.) Dorsey in the offseason, making it a time of transition for him.

Now firmly settled in at Oaks, he wants to use the coming offseason for more recruiting purposes.

"The move to Oaks has been great," said Thibodeaux. "I've been working hard all season and it has been an easy transition. This school is a family. It has been a good situation for me."

Oaks has long been a frequent stop for college coaches and this season has been no different.

"USC came out to watch me play, Texas came out to watch me play, Washington came by," said Thibodeaux. "And I know more schools will be coming by soon."

Thibodeaux has visited three in-state schools and one out-of-state school so far, gearing him up for more visits come 2018.

"I've been to UCLA, USC and Cal last spring and then LSU," said Thibodeaux.

USC has been a factor in his recruitment from the get-go.

"USC is a great program, a great school and there tradition always has them in the mix," said Thibodeaux. "I talk mostly with BKU (Kenechi Udeze) and he's a great guy."

UCLA is trying to stay in it though they have their own coaching transition.

"UCLA is another great school with a lot of alumni and I talk mostly with Coach Angus (McClure)," said Thibodeaux.

LSU impressed him when he visited Baton Rouge.

"That visit to LSU was a lot of fun and a great experience," said Thibodeaux. "Coach (Ed) Orgeron is a great guy. It is a different breed of a football down south. Every has got a great program in the South but LSU is just different."

He wants to return to the South in the offseason as well as visit the Midwest.

"I think next up is a visit down South to Alabama and then out to Michigan and then maybe to Washington," said Thibodeaux. "At Alabama, Coach Tosh Lupoi is recruiting me and they were one of my first offers. At Michigan, I talk mostly with Jay Harbaugh. At Washington, it's Coach Pete (Kwiatkowski) and Coach Chris Petersen."

Two schools that haven't offered but that Thibodeaux would strongly consider should they are Ohio State and Clemson.

"I haven't been offered yet by Clemson or Ohio State, but if they offered, they would definitely be taken in to consideration," said Thibodeaux. "Those are two great programs that have won national championships (recently) and do a great job with their players, preparing them for the next level."

At 6-5, 235 right now, Thibodeaux said whether he plays defensive end or outside linebacker depends on his weight gain over the next two years.

"I can play both but it all depends on how much I weight," said Thibodeaux. "I want to be 250 by the end of high school."

This weekend, Thibodeaux and Oaks Christian will take on Valencia (Calif.) in the CIF-SS Division II championship game.

It should be a requirement with a last name like that he comes to LSU.

Unfortunately, Oaks Christian has been a huge USC feeder

He wants to commit before his SR season. We need to get Robinson with his Cali influence, Meatball, Aranda and O to put the full court press on.

How can he go anywhere BUT LSU with that name? Hell, I doubt the other coaches can even pronounce it. On the other hand, LSU's coach is probably is related to multiple Thibodeaux's!!

O was the only coach who pronounced his name correctly.

The kid has family in LA of course, I read that earlier in the year, but he seems to have a lot going on his plate. A lot of Pac 12 schools will be after him being a 5 star DE on the west coast, and LSU will just have to stay on him. He was really impressed with that last visit he had at LSU and they just need to build off of that and stay on him.

It's hard for us to pull from Cali. We've seen it a few times the last few years. I won't get excited about this one. Would love to have him though. Could be the next Key, Hunter, Mingo, etc.

Or a Sonnier, Melancon or Guidry.

We're currently a little short on Cajun/Creole names right now:

Brossette
(Fake Cajuns LaCouture and Chaisson)
CEH (Maybe. Helaire?)
Brunet
Fournette
Ducre
Badeaux (Mais yah?)
Mouton
Moreau

I mean, we're better than that, usually.

Hell a Fontenot or Landry would be good, right?

It would be near criminal if he went anywhere but LSU with that name. Ok, well other than Nicholls St, haha.
