Pretty much everything that could go wrong this season did. If Walker comes back; Josh Smith gets healthy we'll have to be better.

But in my opinion I think our recruiting has fallen off some of late. Maybe I am wrong.

Recruiting is fine. This season was just snakebit from the get go.

As far as next year I think pitching will be elite. Hilliard, Bush, and Labas have all had their moments where they look like Friday night guys. That’s not even counting Walker and Storz coming back from injury or Hess who could potentially. come back for another year. The recruiting class is also loaded with power arms and like always I’m sure one or two will shine early.

Offensively you lose Bain and beau Jordan for sure and possibly Watson if he decides to go pro. The rest of the lineup returns and IMO will be anchored by two superstars in Josh Smith and Daniel Cabrera. Both of those guys coukd produce AA type numbers a year from now. And much like pitching there are quite a few advanced bats in the recruiting class and if they show up on campus they will compete for a spot immediately.

Next season will be the best set of arms LSU has had since Paul Byrd Ben and others were on the same squad. I can see Walker, Hilliard, Labas, Storz as all starters and bush in Long relief and others. Geez. Defensively the team should be solid. All that will be needed is a couple of hitters to really develop like Webre. This team is LOADED. If Cam sanders stays with All those developing in the pen. Geez, the pen will be crazy good.

If LSU is lucky and MLB doesn't rape our recruiting class this year we could be special in '19.

Can any of the recruits play catcher on day 1?

We have 3 catchers committed. Two were freshmen at JUCO this past season. One was the starter until he got hurt (Mathis) and the other split catching duties with another D1 signee (Garza). The third would be an incoming freshman that probably has the best arm of the three, but is also the biggest draft risk.

So yes, some of the recruits could play catcher on day 1.

Thanks Project. I feel badly for Hunter but he’s just not up to par.
