jembeurt selects Kukea Emmsley, DE/OLB Boise State

I was following this kid pre-draft when his composite was in the 1300s and his 247 was in the 1200s. In 247 last ranking, he was listed at 332, pushing me to grab him here. I wanted Baldonado but this guy has the same measurables and dominated both the Oakland Opening and the Polynesian practices and game.

He’ll fit in nicely at OLB in my 3-4.

so i have to repick for joyner cause im drafting him as an ath simply cause i dont think he ends up as a qb here...meanwhile Mukuamu was drafted as a safety when i pointed out he is a CB at SC and Shi Smith who started at WR for SC this year was drafted as a CB and when picked i said he would be a WR and noone bats an eye

Can't speak for Shi Smith, as I really don't recall looking into him at all... but to be fair, his composite ranking was as an Athlete and his offers were to schools looking to *determine* whether he'd fit better at DB or WR. Joyner has been pretty explicit that he was only considering schools that were willing to recruit him as a QB... if he doesn't end up there, that's another story.

On CB/Safety, I think it's fair to say most of us are drafting "DB"s... it's pretty damn difficult to 100% say whether a guy will end up at CB or Safety outside of a handful in the top 150... Example - Nadab Joseph - taken as a CB, rated as a CB, almost definitely will end up as a Safety at UGA per program insiders. (Speaking of, whoever selected him, he won the state high jump a week or so ago with a 6'8" jump... )

Ultimately, as I said before, I defer to jemby, but it just feels like an end around to draft another QB when you could have just as easily done so the round prior. I elected to wait to be the last person to take a QB because I knew there would be plenty... if people can start selecting guys that clearly were recruited to be QBs as "ATH" then it would probably have changed my strategy.

Its only right that I make this pick seeing as I picked his older brother previously in the draft:

Salua Masina - OLB - Vandy

I have no doubt that he learned from watching Osa throw his career away, to not follow down that same path. Kid chose to attend Vandy instead of a plethora of West Coast schools, so his head is probably light years ahead of where Osa's was.
