Am I correct in assuming that LSU is now out of scholarships for this year? So someone would have to leave if Robinson commits? Or is there 1 more available?

You are correct if we are counting Bigby-Williams.

I imagine if Robinson signs then Sims is the casualty.
I dont see him ever making a significant impact at LSU with the caliber of talent Wade is bringing in.
Prolly better for kid to transfer while he's young.

Sims not going anywhere. Family ties to LSU plus he is not a bad player.

Sims is pretty garbage. He's a 6'6 225lb PF with little to no athleticism who can't shoot threes, rebound, or defend. Plus he got arrested this offseason. If Mitch is coming, Sims is gone.

Is really not a bad 3-point shooter

He didn't take a ton, but shot 41.2%. 14-34.

wow....garbage? the hole team was hot garbage w/ the exception of Tone an Duop last year. they all could be better w/ a new coach including Sims. He'll never be a star but could develop into a nice role player.
I don't know how this all shakes out w/ schollies but he may ultimately be gone. however, there's no reason to trash a player. it will be interesting to see what the roster looks like when CWW is done.

I think Sims is prolly closer to 6'5" actually.

Likely lottery pick>>>>>>>>>>"could develop into a nice role player". If Robinson can get a waiver or is willing to sit out a year, you absolutely take him. If that means Sims has to go, he's got to go.

sims isn't going anywhere. He actually was a bright spot and improved as the season went on. You obviously stopped watching early on. He averaged about 19 minutes per game and had one sec game where he made (4) three pointers. Over his last 8 games he was also 14-16 from the foul line. For 2014-15 the kid was the Louisiana player of the year.
Please stop posting because obviously u don't watch basketball.

Bigby-Williams is still not listed on the official roster.

Sims was pretty good as a freshmen, about as good as you could expect. He's got talent, he's a legacy to the program with his father Wayne Sims, he aint going anywhere. If anything, Bigby-Williams with his sexual assault allegations might get the cut if Robinson gets a waiver. Take the bird in hand versus one in the bush. Quit bashing current players on our roster and throwing them under the bus before any moves take place. If you don't know for sure, STFU!

On Friday Bigby-Williams was cleared, investigation is closed and he will not be charged with anything

Could anyone see a scenario where Sims scholarship dropped but stays on team as a preferred walk-on? Dad pays tuition and Wade gives him back scholarship the following year when more free up. Not sure if that is logistically possible/allowable.

Doubt it, he'd go elsewhere
And with that said, I think they are waiting on seeing what will happen with Robinson before Bigby-Williams officially "hits" the roster. Just my opinion, but maybe they are looking to take only 1 of those 2 instead of both and getting rid of a current roster player at this point, especially with it being so late in the cycle. Classes start in 2 weeks, so things will have to move really quickly in both situations if they decide they want both and have to tell a current player to kick rocks. It's tough at this point because you definitely see the need for guys like Bigby-Williams and Robinson but also there isn't any "poor" player left on the team really to tell them to head elsewhere.
With ER III, Jenkins, Hayward and Patterson it wasn't so hard. Once you start to look at the guys now, it's tough to tell someone to kick rocks because any of them could at least be a decent contributor to the team this season.

Maybe, but those guys would be playing in two different seasons. Robinson (very likely) isn't going to play college ball next year. Do you sacrifice what would likely be your starting C/PF next year (Bigby-Williams) for a guy that may only be eligible half the season this year?
LSU only has 4 guys on the current roster 6'7" or taller. 3 of them will be gone after this season (Epps, Reath, Combs). If you cut Bigby-Williams loose, you are left with Kiir and the a need to recruit an entire frontcourt for next season.
