Let me start off by saying frick republic services. They say in their app they offer yard waste and bulk trash pickup, but when I called they said that's not the case.

Who can I call to get this picked up? I already ripped out a bunch of landscaping under the assumption that republic would be able to pick it up and it's just sitting on my curb

I think you have to either bring it to the dump yourself, or call one of those Got Junk types of services.

It is absolutely my least favorite part of living in Ascension Parish. It is ridiculous that there is no large waste pickup options.

To the best of my knowledge, WM, Dales and Trash Rangers do not offer this as an option.

Republic will take yard waste if you hide it in your container. Put some of your yard waste in your container every week along with your household trash. But, here’s the trick: The cover of the container must be closed shut. Republic will take the yard waste if they don’t see it. This will only work if the truck is equipped with a mechanical arm that picks up the container and dumps the contents into the top of the truck. I’ve been doing this for more than 10 years. I’ve even gotten rid of pieces of lumber this way.

This.

I don't understand why someone will complain about the service that they don't have but refuses to use the service that they do have. Cut the waste into small pieces, put them in a household trash bag and put the bag in your trash container. Do this until the waste is gone.

Everything that goes into your trash container should be in a household trash bag so that there will be no concerns during pick up.

after their most recent drastic price increase...I got rid of them....and just cancelling my service with them was a pain in the arse. Had a file a fraudulent charge claim with my credit card company of them - I will never do business with them again, as long as I have a choice in someone else.

That works most of the time, but I know there have been plenty of tree prunings I have done that left me with piles of branches bigger than my truck. That takes quite a lot of time to dispense with in a weekly trash can. One that is often already full with the normal refuse of a family of 4.

Burning is a viable option, but a pile that large either takes a long time to manage into a fire pit or a giant burn mark in your yard for a month+.

Then call your service provider and add a 2nd can for 1 month.

yep and yep. All I'm saying is it would be nice to have yard waste and large item pickup like every other area I've lived in. It is still my least favorite aspect of owning a house in AP.

Also pay about $120 to dump your own trash in their dumpster. This is why so many people dump shite on side of the road. Needs to be like St. James parish, free for residents of the parish

That's good to hear prices have decreased. It's been a few years since I've been, but it was $120 for a single axle trailer and truck. They charged by the axle count from what I remember

The Sorento landfill was $48 for a truck bed and around $130 for a truck pulling a trailer a few months ago when I went. I was throwing away concrete so it wasn't piled higher than the sides of my bed so she said she charged me the price of a few garbage cans.

I think there is just some discretion at the gate as to what they charge you, but a trailer's listed rate is north of $120.
