This is exactly the kind of carpet I want for our guest bedroom and for my office. Both in tone and texture. In my previous (limited) carpet purchasing experiences, I feel like so many carpets look the same in regards to online or actual real swatches at the store, but then you lose the forest for the trees and don't get the same overall look or feel you thought you had.

Hard to tell from just a photo, but it looks like seagrass, sisal, or jute. All are natural fibers that feel quite coarse/scratchy under bare feet. Depending on which, it can be wonderfully hard wearing or downright crumbly. I don’t know of any synthetics that look quite as chunky/coarse/textured without looking quite cheap.
Maybe buy a few 2x3 natural fiber rugs of the various materials to see what you like IRL. I had sisal in an entry, it was great. Cat loved to scratch his heart out and rug didn’t show it. But it was too picky for me to consider in any location where I frequently walked barefoot.

I bought an old 70's house that had sisal on the wall above the wainscoting in the den. During our renovation, I got tired of pulling wallpaper down in the rest of the house, and painted it. Looked good enough to please the wife, and that stuff was bulletproof.
I'd look into sisal if it's an option.

Yep. Give me wood, marble, natural stone, clay, ceramic tile, or brick. Nice rug optional.

People are gross, carpet is fine. We have wood and tile all downstairs for aesthetics, but upstairs we have carpet in kids bedrooms, playroom, and bonus. Serves a nice dual purpose as a noise buffer as well

Yes, it is. But a huge sisal or jute rug is way less gross than fitted carpet. You can roll up a rug and take it outside for a thorough cleaning. Fitted carpets with the pad beaneath are just habitat for dust mites, etc. Give me tile that can be steam cleaned, thanks.

Sisal is what that is, look at seagrass you may like that a little better

It looks similar to our seagrass carpet. We weren’t big on carpet at all, but the previous owners put it in, and we don’t mind it. It’s only in the bedrooms.
