What kind of backpack are you using? I’ll post a fill chart later

Assuming metsulfuron methyl = MSM Turf, correct? And the label gives application amount per acre that you need to convert to 1000 sq ft for residential lawn?
You can use 1/8 of a level teaspoon per 1 or 2 gallon of water + surfactant sprayed over 1000 sq ft which will equate to 0.6 oz per acre (0.4 grams per 1000 sq ft) which is safe for St Aug, Bermudagrass and Zoysia (according to the label). For centipede that’s a tad high so a bit less than 1/8 teaspoon so as not to exceed 0.5 oz max application per acre for centipede. Of course follow the label directions for safe application rates for the weeds you need to control.
For better precision,
0.33 oz per acre equals 0.21 grams per 1000 sq ft
0.50 oz per acre equals 0.33 grams per 1000 sq ft
0.75 oz per acre equals 0.50 grams per 1000 sq ft
You can buy a small battery operated “jewelers” scale on Amazon for about $12 that works great for those weighing out those fractional grams (I have the top one in photo below). Also you can order the 1/8 teaspoon measuring spoons for cheap on Amazon, order a few if you have a tendency to misplace things like me.

Using a pump-up hand held sprayer. I usually do 1 gallon. My yard is not that big

What would be a good surfactant?

Hi-Yield Spreader Sticker. Cheap. Retail plant nurseries or hardware store should have it, not the box stores. Here is what to look for LINK
I knew I had one of these homeowner “cheat sheets” around. That application rate will pretty much take care of most weeds in your yard. BTW, it’s been pointed out by Gamecocks22 and ronk you need to be careful using MSM Turf while your lawn is in green up phase as it can damage the desirable lawn grass , if that’s your case you want to hold off using it for a while longer.
