If no mound like tunnels? Definitely an Armadillo. Gotta stay up to catch the little bastards. THey ruin my yard as well

This looks almost exactly like what the squirrels are doing to my yard. Burying acorns.

There are coyotes in the middle of Houston. Armadillos are everywhere. If you have trees nearby I’d say squirrels. If the digging is also in the flower beds or the deep enough that grass roots are showing, armadillo.

Squirrel or maybe even Blue Jays. Neighbor behind us has a peanut thing for squirrels. The blue jays will get them, bring to the yard or lemon trees in giant planters and peck them into the ground.

I’m in the middle of Baton Rouge and I’ve got the same problem and it is definitely armadillos. Seen em.

I’ve seen armadillos in Houston.

If you within a few miles of the bayou, there is a good bet coyotes are hunting stray cats
