I made a cardinal lawn care mistake and took a chance on River Silt. Loaded with Torpedo Grass and it’s something I’ll never, ever do again. Top soil or Mason Sand only.

I now have torpedo grass in some “bare lawn” areas. This is near new sod/plugs but mostly NOT in the sod/plugs. All the sod/plugs are Palisades Zoysia.

Is Glyphosate the correct path forward? What about Quinclorac for a more broad application, including the new sod? Any potential to damage or stunt the growth of the Zoysia plugs to the surrounding area? Sod has been down for about 20 days now and seems to be well rooted. I should have enough space to not contact any foliage on the Zoysia in most of the areas, but there is some mixed in/close to the Zoysia.

Also, what should I do with the remaining silt? Can I spread it over a kill/till area and just spray with glyphosate a couple weeks apart? I probably have about 2-3 yards remaining.

Burn it all to the ground.

I’m hoping I still have a chance to save it. It’s Zoysia so Quinclorac is an option AND it’s pretty sparse in the area right now.

Roundup. Quinclorac is pretty rough on sprigs. You may consider Ronstar as a preemergent if you want a top tier law.

If your pile of silt is out of the way, consider covering it with a thick black tarp and let it bake in the sun this summer. You will eventually sterilize the soil and can use it for anything. Vegetable garden, filling low spots, new flower bed, levee...

sorry man.
roundup on the affected areas and to be honest I’d haul the silt off.
I’ve tried the sterilization and that shite still sprouted

That won't even work.

No goo answer but digging it up and I mean deep into the ground. Likely you loose and it becomes part of your lawn.

Frequent spraying of Quinclorac for about 6months worked for me in my Bermuda lawn. After that I might see a torpedo shoot up every now and then likely from the neighbors. But like was mentioned it's not going to be gentle on your sod and plugs.... Also make sure it's labeled for zoysia I don't have my bottle handy to check.
