Yeeesh is that your yard? Pretty sure it’ll die off in a few weeks. Just use pre emergent next year.

Thats the spots closest to my porch that my dogs utilize.

Yeah, I have the crap everywhere. Roots are shallow and easy to pull up but need to know as well what to put down to kill it. I would think some type of fall and spring emergent would do it but need to know what to get.

Poa Annua. Just like clovers, it'll die when we start hitting 90 with regularity.

Thank you. Looks like Atrazine may be my weapon of choice, then reshape and reseed that area.

its poa as the other guy said, it will die off very shortly

Apply a pre-emergent herbicide this fall (Sept/Oct) to greatly reduce your Poa issue next spring - all those seeds you see on that Poa will be germinating next fall/winter, won’t eliminate the Poa but will significantly reduce it.

Good luck. Maybe mow that area tight and bag it? Might keep some of the seeds from dropping. Just make sure u use the pre emergent next year.

I used some Image on what was left of mine after using prodiamine for pre-emergence last fall and 2 or so weeks later it has finally died off.

This was a game changer for me. The pre-emergents are a tad expensive, but work wonders if applied correctly and at the right times.

Prodiamine, Dimension (dithiopyr) or Simazine are all effective pre-emergent herbicides for Poa annua and many other weeds in St Augustine, Centipede, Bermudagrass and Zoysia lawns. Major downside downside of Simazine for the homeowner is the smallest quantity you can purchase (to my knowledge) is 2 1/2 gallons, and the amount required per 1000 sq ft of lawn is small, so maybe best to go with prodamine or dimension. You can buy these in granular versions if you prefer that approach to the spray versions, but more expensive per 1000 sq ft.

POA. Will die with heat. Use pre emerge next year
Posted on 3/30/21 at 6:52 pm to lsugolfredman
Letting them die in the heat means they have/will drop all their seeds so the problem never goes away. Use simazine in the fall if you have centipede and atrazine/certainty as soon as any pop up next year.

Fun fact about poa annua:
It's the grass used on the greens of world famous West Coast gold courses such as Pebble Beach and Cypress Point
