Recently did a spot treatment of celsius, waited 3 weeks and did a fertilizer treatment.

Was cutting at 2.5 and now have some random spots where the blades are very thin, or not growing that well compared to other sections.

It doesn't look like any kind of disease, and may have scalped a few spots going too low.

I water 2x/week for about 20 minutes each session with my sprinklers and we've been at triple digits for 2 weeks in DFW.

Are you getting enough water down in the 20 mins? Also at what time are you watering? In this heat, you may need to be watering longer. I know we haven't a solid rain in a few weeks and I'm to the point where I'm scared to see my water bill.

Also, fertilizer. What kind and ratio? Not sure that was the best move, but I'll let someone else expound on that.

In DFW currently you aren't watering to make your grass look good. You are watering it only to keep it alive. Haven't had rain in weeks and it's triple digits.

IMO this is your issue. I'm cutting at 4" and honestly I went on vacation and it go to 8-10" and it looked great.... In the extreme heat I think St Aug really likes to be 4"+. I cut mine at 3" in the fall and winter.

If rotors, 20 min is not enough. Will only keep it from frying. Should be 30, with seasonal adjust on top of that.

definitely underwatering.

Also look up syringe lawn watering - essentially this is covering the grass with a light layer of water on the leaves (not enough to reach the soil) to provide some evaporative cooling during the hottest part of the day.

This. The OP is scalping his yard when he mows every week.

Obviously could be what every other comment mentioned.

In my experience with Celsius, it may be the cause. It’s a potent product and when you (like myself) “spot spray” sometimes it is overdone and stuns the grass. The grass will be fine in 6 wks.

Will add more water and higher trim.

Miss my Bermuda in Nashville already.

Watering very early in the morning. Will add another day in the rotation along with longer cut and see what happens.

Everyone else’s yards in the neighborhood look incredible. I feel like a bum.

The good news is the lack of rain is killing my carpet grass

Spots I scalped are recovering. Mowed at 3.5-4 today and it looks a lot better.

Still have that brutal bare spot.

Front doesn’t look like the obviously heat stressed parts of my back yard where my sprinklers don’t get the best coverage.

2.5 inches isn’t scalping and that picture you posted isn’t drought stress. Looks like something else was going on

I scalped in a few areas for sure. Mainly where it’s not level.

Didn’t post the thinning areas that are clearly because of lack of rain. Since I’ve been adding water it looks a lot better.

That bare spot is a mystery though. Is filling in with sand/top soil a good solve? Worked wonders on Bermuda.
