That’s rough. We’re they resting on the plants?

Sorry for your loss.

We had back to back mornings at 27. Went looking for plants Thursday and old reliable was the only of three that even had any veggies for sale.

Less than 24 hours. I thought it would just act like a green house but that’s not the case.

Maybe not enough air flow? Maybe they got to hot once the sun came up. I don’t know.

Transplanted some blueberry bushes today. Two more for where the red x’s are on Monday. Not sure what to do with yellow area yet. Need to decide quick I guess.

Anyone see any egregious errors I’ve made?

Yes. One blue berry bush in 10 years will hide that whole box.

Yeah those are way too close together. You could maybe put two in there, but even that is pushing it.

It’s 6x10 by the way. But 10-4 will spread apart.

Looks like I lost all my beans. They were covered and it didn't even get below 33 here and no frost either.

Everything else survived fine.

Well, they’re here!

Got them all in the hive. Got the queen set up in the middle for the workers to release her. And I have some 1:1 sugar syrup in there to get them started.

And I already have a bee in the house.

My sister wants to put hive in my yard. Had to break the news to her, I have a chemical romance. I’m trying to do better, but damn I hate fighting bugs.

ETA-odd my grandfather always had them and dad would talk about them coming over house spraying DDT.

Used to be the same way. I had to break myself of it. I’ve learned to live with them. As long as they stay outside, though.

The bees are just in time. Everything around my house is starting to flower. Pretty soon the cucumbers and beans will be running up the trellis. I have okra seedling emerging. And a few of my sunflower plants are starting to make some flower heads. I’m looking forward to watching them work and reaping the rewards.

Damn that makes me jealous.

I have been wanting bees for a long time. My wife puts up with a lot of my projects around the house but that isn't one of them.

Maybe next house we move to that has more space.
