Stihl Weedeater 56 RC-E, string keeps getting stuck and not feeding through

I'm not sure if I'm using the wrong string or what but it's extremely frustrating. I called the guy where I bought the weedeater from and asked if he knew what the problem could be. He didn't offer much advice.

You load it wrong or use cheap edged trimmer string? Because Stihl trimmer heads are incredibly reliable but they don't tolerate the spool being wound incorrectly or using cheap gimmicky string. If you are using something like Echo Crossfire or any of the various square edged strings box stores sell you will have problems because the line will weld to itself. I just use .095 Stihl orange round string, works well and the big spool of the stuff will probably out last me...

As goofy as it sounds you may want to you tube the proper way to wrap the spool.
I got the echo quick feed deal and will never go away from it. I had the same problem as you btw

I got tired of fighting with that and bought a speed feed head for my FS70RC....One of the best investments I could have made! No more issues, and I can completely restring with 20' of line in about 2 minutes.

I have the same weedeater and changed the head to a Sthil auto feed one of my better buys.

Buy a speed feed head. It has changed my outlook on weed eating
