the wife wants a very minimalistic Pergola built over part of our paver patio. Approx 15' length by 12' wide

Prefer not to attach to house as it's an single story 50's ranch so it would feel low as ceilings are only 8' high.

Pergola style to keep the natural light coming into back of house (again 50's ranch so don't have huge windows everywhere.

Currently have a paver patio and I understand those wouldn't be strong enough to support a 4x4 pergola with 2x4 as slats.

Would like to put 2 posts on ground right next to patio and build a cantilever style pergola. Has anyone done this? Any other suggestions?

asking for trouble.
plan around a four column free standing structure.
auger some holes outboard of your patio for your 4x4's and set on concrete, min 24" deep and i would go with a 12" hole.

Posts coming out of the pavers would look nice, IMO.

I built this this past weekend and lined the top up with the gutters. I also put corrugated pvc panels on top. It withstood the high wind and rain last night very well.

Slope follows the concrete. It’s about 2% into the yard.

Looks similar to what I’ll be trying eventually.

Do you mean 4 posts 2' deep in the yard, just off the patio and then my cantilever idea should work? I'm having trouble finding plans for this

Can you not pop out a few pavers to pour some footers?

How wide is that? 4x4's going across? If so and it's wider then 8', those 4x4's will sag in no time being very wet.

All the materials were about $1000. Concrete was existing.

Bout a 10' span? If so, those will sag too! Should of used no less then 2x6's. Treated wood stays wet for a good 3-4 months and will move a shite load.

Do yourself a favor and use 6x6 Posts. Looks much better and stand alone in corner 3 posts looks good too.

Any recommendations to help prevent sag without replacing?
