Will be having a teak/SS fold up bench installed. Cost right at $500. It's a must for me.

+1 for a stool. We put this smaller one in, and our shower is about 5.5’ x 3.5-4’. A 3-leg stool is guaranteed to not wobble, whereas a 4-leg one will likely wobble In a corner depending on your slopes.

I kind of like this 3 legged stool. I would like to have the bench built especially if we ever go to sell our house, it would be nice to have. However, I’m leaning more towards the portable stool. We’ll have the shower head, a wand, and a rain shower head. I think a stool would be better for the rain shower because I can move it right underneath the water. I can’t move the built ins.

If you do go with that one, check the size and draw it out on a piece of cardboard or something to make sure it’s to your liking. It’s not all that big.

We also went with a teak fold down bench. I love it and use it almost every shower to shave and pumice. When not in use it is out of the way and not taking up space. Got it from teakworks4u, they have a nice selection of high quality ones to choose from.

This is the same for the entire shower though. You should dry a tile shower after every use.
However, a bench should be designed to reduce the possibility of standing moisture. The tile should be sized to reduce the number of joints, and they should run with the slope to self-drain as much as possible.

They definitely depend on the size of your shower. However if your still in the design phase there's no way I'd go without one.
And what we almost always do with is something like these granite or quartzite seats. These stones are strong enough to be supported by tile on three sides and allow for a more open (tile less and metal less) seat. In smaller showers or if simply wanting something smaller we often go with a triangular corner seat. It's just like the shampoo shelf in top pic only large enough to sit or prop one leg. Women find these a particularly nice option/compromise for shaving their legs, especially when coupled with some type of shower wand.

As was the top of a mid-height built in cabinet (not seen). And of course they're installed with a little down slope for drainage. . . .best of all they're made using your left over scrap/slab and the extra cutting cost is minimal.

This is the correct answer. We don't sit in the shower, but a nice corner bench is perfect for propping your leg up and/or storing the random BS products that every wife keeps in the shower.

Corner seat opposite shower head is the way to go imo. We use ours mostly for storing bottles - built in shelves never enough for a woman. Wife also uses for shaving legs. I've sat on it a couple times after working in the yard or something when I'm taking a cold shower. If I didn't have it, would have to buy a stool for sure. I prefer look of the built in. Not sure why everyone has problem keeping clean - ours stays pretty clean.

Yep, the bottom just had two rain shower heads on opposing walls and wand that's barely seen because of the glare.

I've been debating this as well and decided on getting a teak one.
