My old ztr bit the dust and not really looking to buy another riding until after I move. Looking for a recommendation for a self-propelled that would be good for uneven terrain due to cypress stumps. I have less than a quarter of an acre.

Thanks for any recommendations!

Personally I like a front wheel drive because I can lean it when turning vs a rear wheel. I have a Toro Recycler 22” that is about 10 years old and still running strong.

I’ve always been a snapper Hi-vac bagger myself. I like the rear wheel propel system and the suction of the deck basically vacuums the entire yard. If you have trees it’s a breeze to clean up the leaves in the fall to. Just run over the yard with the bag on and done. They’re not cheap but I’ve always seen them last a long time and the other mowers seem super heavy after having the snapper for so long.

Not a usual suggestion, but I've had a Husqvarna with Honda engine for about 6 years now. I only use it a couple times a year now, but it'll start on the first crank every time.

Do they make one that's a walk behind only, not self propelled?

Toro front propel with Honda engine has been fantastic for me this Summer. Bought it around July 1 so it's really new and I can't attest to lifespan, but it's great. Cranks on first pull, lean on back wheels to turn, etc.

Yeah. LINK

I'm a fan of the Snapper Hi-Vac, too. I have a commercial hi-vac.

If you don't care how a mulched lawn looks, the get the high wheel Toro recycler. If you want a mulched lawn that looks bagged, get a Honda.

I have a Craftsman that starts every time.
20 yrs. old
Added oil once or twice
Has been used in jungle warfare repeatedly
Rear rubber guard finally fell off recently (my fault abusing it)
I'll definitely look into another Craftsman when the time comes
It may have a Honda engine???

I was a Craftsman man myself until this summer when I bought a Honda. I promise you that that the quality of the Craftsman has gone down exponentially since you bought your lawnmower 20 years ago. The Craftsman that we grew up with is gone.

I normally make my teenage son cut the grass and I do the edging and weed eating. When I bought the Honda I figured that I would cut the grass the first few times and then let my son take it back over. I haven't asked him to cut the grass yet this summer. I actually enjoy cutting the grass with this thing.

perhaps - maybe - best usually means right model and year

I have a John Deere commercial grade self-propelled with a Kawasaki engine that I've about worn the wheels off (literally) was thinking about replacing them. Automotive type external oil and air filters and one piece heavy-cast aluminum deck.

Would buy again.. only had to replace a belt and blade.
