I'm looking at a 42" ZTR Ryobi. Says battery should last 2.5-3 hours of cutting time. I'm worried that a lot of it is probably plastic to cut down on weight to help battery life.

I’ll wait on the Tesla model so I can take a nap while I cut the grass.

I am considering the EGO ZTR. Either that or a lawn service, I will get quotes soon. I don't want to deal with gas in a mower.

Another brand will hit the home centers in March. It will be all metal frame no plastic similar to an existing unit just battery powered.

Going to do some more dealer training this week on it and it is Lithium batteries with a shorter charging time versus the Ryobi.

Please say it’s EGO or Snapper.

Edit: the current ego one looks like a rebranded Ryobi.

Given the track record of battery cycle life in yard equipment, I would never spend $3k on a battery power mower. They're not selling you tesla battery tech for that price. In a few years, you will be able to mow half your yard on a charge. New battery (if you can even find one) will cost as much as a new mower. Thanks but no thanks. Bought a small riding mower last year. I expect it to last me 20 years. Spend maybe $1-2 per cut to operate.

You should consider googling things before posting.

i'd sure be interested to see your proof that i'm not correct. I know several people with battery powered yard tools that have had significant degradation in a year or two. Did ryobi invent battery technology that doesn't degrade? Are they using Tesla or equivalent level technology in a $3k mower? I'm not researching this because i'm not in the market. My experience and common sense tells me no, but i'm open to be proven wrong. Quit being a dick.

It’s not about time. It’s about not posting things that are BS.

You claimed that the batteries cost as much as the mower and added “if you can find one”.

There’s two or four batteries in the Ryobi riding mowers depending on the model you get, and each one can be replaced for less than $200. They are common batteries with generic brand options.

The EGO mowers accept the same format of batteries as their weed eater and push mower. It can accept 6 at one time but you only need 4 if they are the beefy ones.

A simple Google search would have revealed this.

bruh i meant in 3 years when they crap out. And I'm not googling to answer a question I do not have. And if the batteries powering this mower are $200 I am absolutely flabbergasted. Ego replacement batteries are $200 + and certainly not enough juice to run a mower
