Getting prices on repainting/recoating the Stucco on my house.

Have a price of traditional coating, and waiting on the Rhino Shield now.

Sitting with there sales person seems to be like sitting wit h a used car dealer.

Anyone use this product? are your your thoughts compared to traditional?

i will cost difference soon as i get it

thanks

It will completely encapsulate and will not allow the bricks or stucco to breathe and any moisture will have no way to evaporate or drain. Termites, mold, etc...

If it is only color and not the actual finish that is needed it should just be painted. If the finish itself is bad just reskim the finish.

so just got the price

Traditional 9k

Rhino shield started at 16k was 12k before he left.

My thoughts the 9k i thought was really high, i dont like dealing with a company that feels like i am trying to buy a used car.

if anyone has used the product i would like to hear real world review

Paint it with a good exterior latex paint. It’s better and it’s cheaper.

My brother-in-law hates painting his house and has paid to have it done twice in the past 25 years and checked out Rhino-Shield a while back and got quotes comparable to what you got.

It was almost twice what a regular paint job would cost but his house is clad in wood weatherboards with all wood trim and would require a good bit of prep work to get ready for finishing.

My neighbor had her redwood house coated with this. All the wood rotted shortly thereafter. She sued, they closed their business and reopened under another corporate entitiy.

They finally gave her $50K which was a token settlement. The house was over 4,000 square feet.

I had some friends who repainted their stucco home about three years ago. They opted for a similar product that is not Rhino Shield and they’re pleased with the results. They weren’t impressed with the Rhino Shield people who acted like my friends were privileged just to be able to sit down with their sales reps.

Well i slept on it last night. I am not going with Rhino Shield. To many unknowns.
I still think my traditional paint price is on the high side. I will look around for more quotes

Don't know where you are, but if you're in their territory check out Mid-South Coatings.

The guy that started it left Rhino Shield because he felt they used an inferior product (better than regular paint, but not the best option). And, every so many years they will shutdown their business and operate under a new entity in order to avoid warranty claims. My company tried to file a warranty claim with Rhino after 6 years and ran through this exact situation.

Well Mid South is the company that came yesterday. I will not be going with them. I will look for other options

thanks for everyone's input

That guy was terminated from Rhino Shield. Trust me. I know MM. he uses the same exact product as Rhino Shield because he went with the same manufacturer.
For what it’s worth, it’s fairly easy to find that mid south coatings is currently in a tad bit of trouble for ruining several homes.

That said, I wouldn’t use either company. Premium SW exterior and a good painter.

Paint it with elastomeric coating if the texture is in decent shape and no major cracks.
