Revive St. Augustine grass?

Long story short: I intended to kill sprouting weeds in my yard with one of those "kills-the-weeds-not-the-lawn" products purchased from Home Depot. About a week ago (one week after application), my lawn developed multiple browning spots. As a novice, it looks like some of these spots are complete dead patches.

I think this likely resulted from user error. I didn't do much research and probably applied a product not suitable for St. Augustine grass. But the mistake is behind me now.

I would appreciate any recommendations on the best way to revive this grass (if possible) without laying new sod.

Don’t know any product that does that for St Augustine. Go buy some sod and patch your dead spots.

If you still have the bag post pictures of the label. If not try to find it on Home Depot's website and link it. Hard to tell if a lawn is dead without seeing it. Could be dead, could be damaged, could be fungus.

Was it 2-4d?

You can buy a set of plugs for about 50 bucks I believe and the st Augustine will grow together. Place them about 12” apart. Mow high 4” and as frequently as you can. Water infrequently but deep in the morning or early afternoon only. Buy some slow release nitrogen such as milorganite.
