Power went out for 5-6 hours earlier today. AC was working fine. Power Comes back on & now it’s not cooling. Outside unit is operating just fine. Fan turning. But there’s nothing coming out of the ceiling vents

What could the problem be?

So you get no air flow from the ducts/air handler?

Does it have a separate breaker that is tripped? Sometimes there may be one on the air handler itself.

Sucking air in. Nothing blowing out

Nothing in main panel is tripped. What do you call the air handler?

I’m crazy. It’s blowing out. But it’s not much and not very cool. Had to get really close to it to tell

Sounds like the blower fan that distributes the air went out. I recently had to replace mine and what you're describing is what mine did. Try turning off the ac and run just the fan.

Have you looked to see if the heat exchanger is iced over? That will block the air flow.

If it is, there is something that caused it.

That an inside unit or outside unit thing? Outside unit looks fine. Held my hand over it and air was cool.
Just odd that this happened with a power outage. All was fine just before

Don’t know much of shite about it all. Especially anything with the inside unit. Bout to go in the attic and see if anything catches my eye

My ac takes a few hours to reset after an outage

Turn off for an hour and try again

The blower would be inside. Mines below the furnace and you pop off a panel to see it. If it is that don't run your compressor, it will ice it up and you'll have bigger issues. The power surge when it came back on could've zapped the motor...just speculation though.

Power outage knocked out the capacitor on one of my units. Compressor wouldn’t kick on. Changed the capacitor and started cooling again.

I had the exact same problem after the power came back on. It was the blower. More specifically the ECM for the blower. Luckily it was still under warranty and ONLY cost me $500. Turn off your ac in the mean time or it may freeze

Probably the blower motor/fan which is in the inside air handler unit.

I had a couple power outages a few months ago and after one of them my blower motor starting going on the fritz. It would stop working then the unit and compressor ouraide would begin to ice over. Probably explains why your compressor outside is blowing cool air(should be warm air if cooling your house).

Ultimately I ended up having to get mine replaced.

It’s supposed to be hot. It’s removing the hot air from your home and putting cool air in.

Sometimes there are breakers (maybe all times) located on the inside unit. Check there to see if one is tripped.

Be sure to turn off electricity to the unit before opening the panel. Also Check to make sure it’s not frozen up.

Soooo, I turned it off completely when I went to bed last night. Got up and turned it on around 5am, house was 80°. Left and came back 7. It’s currently 76°. Fingers crossed but I think it’s good to go.
Ain’t shite to this HVAC stuff!!! Lol
