Plumbing Quote
Revived a plumbing quote to rough in a standard bathroom and run gas to the stove, dryer, and future tankless heater. This is on a small raised home that is being completely gutted. No other major work is necessary. Getting quoted $7000. Seems pretty steep to me, but I don’t have much experience in plumbing. What’s your thoughts on this?

If you are in Baton Rouge, then I would call Ed The Plumber (2253412224). I would guess he would quote you $1,000-$1500 for what you are describing. This guy is awesome and he is a vet! Very clean and fast.

This plumber is an unethical, greedy moron. I hate people like this. If it were me I'd go to great lengths to ruin this guy's reputation. You could repipe an entire damn 2000 sq ft house for less than that.

A rough guess would be $500 per "fixture" ($2500 - sink, commode, stove, dryer, water heater), but if you find the right guy I bet it will be less than that.

Yes they will have access to all of the fixtures. Floors and sheet rock are coming out.

The bathroom will have 2 fixtures moved within the bathroom. The stove is moving about 15 feet.

Yeah I was kind of dumbfounded by this quote. Didn’t get a great vibe from this guy. Fortunately, I’ve found more guys that will be giving some quotes with good recommendations from people I know.

Let this board know what you get back in terms of price. Maybe that's a good suggestion for the Home and Garden board? If you're doing something that involves a sub, please share the cost and bid.

I posted an HVAC quote here a week ago and was given some good feedback. I don't know jack about HVAC, but my Dad was a plumber and plumbing supply company owner so I feel a little more confident in offering a comment in this post.

re: Plumbing Quote
gut it first, then call honest companies to come give estimates

the price will be better for you if they can see exactly what they are dealing with.

the guy most likely didnt want to give a price without it being exposed so he gave you the "enough to cover a whole new bathroom price" figuring if you went for it he hits the jack pot

That's what I did. Now this was 6-7 years ago, but we had a shower, tub, two sinks, and all of the drain and supply lines added. I think it was $2.5k. We paid the guy about $5-6k, but part of that was installing flooring and drywall, plus paint. Reasonable guy that had done work for one of my sisters and my parents, so I knew he was good before we hired them.

re: Plumbing Quote
I just had a guy come over to get me a quote to run a gas line to my stove. Have an electric now and want to get a gas top.
Already have gas in the attic, and there's already a 3/4" connection they can use. It's 40' of pipe needed. said it would take half a day to complete.
quoted me almost $2k. Seems ridiculous considering the material is likely under $100.

Am i just not knowledgeable about plumbing or is this ridiculous, b/c it seems ridiculous?

4 labor hours @ $125 hour = $500
