Plant Advice - Ornamental Grass Alongside House
I’m hoping to soften up the side of my house that has the driveway on it. I can probably plant something 1-2 feet wide and hoping for something 1 1/2 to 3 feet tall.

I’m looking at Mexican feather grass...maybe pink muhly grass...or anything else that might be good against the side of a house with a low profile...

What’s your thought old wise and mighty H&G board/

Yes.

Assuming you're in the right zones. What zone are you in?

Mexican feather grass is nice but needs to be planted in dry, sandy or Rocky soils. People try to use it in clay soils and it will survive 2 or 3 years and then die off.

Gulf muhly is a good grass but pretty boring except those 2 weeks in the fall it blooms pink.

Look at Little Bunny Hamelin grass, this is your best bet in areas with clay soils and wet soils. Weeping Love Grass is another option.

Not many grasses stay within 1-2' wide. Muhly grass is 4' wide, so I see a design flaw from the beginning. Ruby Crystal, or Piglet grass, will stay small enough, but as with all grasses, need ample sunlight.

In needing a small size take a look at Dwarf Hameln Grass
