Pine straw bale question

Tags, books, cakes, biscuits, sheets? I feel like I’ve heard a dozen names for the square chunks of pine straw within a bale.

What do you call them? Interested to see if there’s some I’ve never heard.

Bale. Never heard any of the others, but I've never shopped for it. Have had plenty of pine trees around that I've used the pine straw from

as much pine straw as I have all over the place I’ve never bought any, but I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t thought about it while looking at that rake

I just put out 50 bales at my house a couple weekends ago. I can't recall that I've ever referred to them as anything. But I guess I'd call it a bundle or a patty.

Bales is acceptable unless you give each an individual name.

We always called them pads of hay, so I call them the same for pine straw.

Google suggests that flakes is a common term for them.

Someone asked the same question on another board, and it looks like flakes was the most common answer. But there were plenty of others from bats and slices to pads. LINK
