Pergola vs Gazebo

I am considering installing either a pergola with a canopy or a gazeba on my back patio - I would be bolting it into the patio.
Those of you who have one or the other: what brand do you have and do you like it or not?

a pavilion/gazebo is better imo but more expensive
a pergola is more of an architectural statement in its true sense. putting a cover on it is kinda pointless. it defeats the purpose of what a pergola is

Pergolas with the removable soft tops/covers are an option

Here in Louisiana they are useless.

Pavilion for sure. Check out the prefab kits. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality.
I ordered a basic 12x14 kit on sale for $1,600 to cover an existing outdoor kitchen (normally $2,500). Built it myself, added concrete footings to secure, and I am adding the electrical at cost. If you’re handy it’ll take you a weekend.
Builder’s were quoting me 10-15K for the equivalent of the kit without concrete footings or electrical.

100% agree here. I've seen ones at Costco and Home Depot that are legit, and they have people that will come do the install.

quote:Where did you order yours from? I'm currently considering having someone design/install a pavilion, retaining wall, and fire pit area in my backyard. My only issue is the yard is not level, so I'll need a stout retaining wall.

But if I could get someone to just do that and the pavers or concrete, I may be able to save some money and do the pavilion myself.
