Looking at putting in a 12x30ish concrete slab for a patio or a ground level deck. Price aside, what is your preference? Majority will be covered with patio cover. I’m assuming cedar would be much better suited than pressure treated for the deck option? There is no direct access to backyard for truck so any concrete would have to be Georgia buggied or pumped ~60-70 feet

Concrete patio. Not even close.

I’m not sure I see any advantages to the deck.

Even with price not an option, concrete will be much cheaper and never need to be replaced. It won’t burn when you put a hot crawfish pot on it and you won’t have to keep staining the concrete like you will the wood. Also the concrete won’t warp.

Agreed, patio for sure.

Deck maintenance can be a bitch with resealing and no matter what you will have to replace it. Concrete, depending on conditions, you just pressure wash here and there.

The only way I would install decking would be, is if the yard was hilly or slopped big time. Other then that, concrete.

I installed a deck because my house is raised (2 ft crawl space) and have 2 doors accessing the area. I did Ipe and I love it but am wondering if I should have done stone pavers instead. Too late now.
