The landlord for the house next to mine stopped by yesterday to talk about replacing the fence between our houses. He lives in the Middle East, so this is the first time I met him in 5+ years. Anywho, he got a couple quotes and I thought they were high for one 76' section and one gate.

What do the geniuses of the HG board think?

Quote 1:
quote:

Per your screen shot 76’

Add gate - 150.00

1700.00 for new fence
350 for demo of old fence

Materials:
2x4- 33 - 5.00each
4x4 - 13 - 8.00
Fence Pickett’s - 180 - 2.00 each
Concrete - 9 -50lb bags - 5.00each
Materials Cost - 674.00

Total cost : Fence materials , Demo, Gate - 2200.00

Quote 2:
quote:

1 222-001 TATA PROD SUPL - WOOD FENCING MATERIALS 1 $766.72 $766.72
2 073945 LABOR OPTION RMV HAUL OLD FENCE 76 $2.25 $171.00
3 228159 BASIC LABOR FENCE WOOD UP TO 72-IN 76 $8.50 $646.00
4 228175 BASIC LABOR STCKBLT WLKGATE 1 $149.00 $149.00

total $1,732.72

My uneducated guess was ~$1000 for this one section of fencing. TIA

$25/ft installed is normal. Especially with a gate.

Both quotes look good for that length of fence. The gate price is an average price you'll see.

I am going to have to install fences in the next year or two. 250' from the side of my driveway to the back of my lot. Not looking forward to that.

What kind of wood will the new fence be and what type of fence needs to be removed? Where are you located, I might know someone that can do it cheaper.

Why don't you just build it yourself? Fence jobs are easy, don't require many tools, and allow you to drink beer outside away from the women.

Hell, I'll come build yours if you don't want to.

Hanging runners and fence boards is easy, setting posts SUCKS arse. I'd pay to have someone do the first half of the job, finish it off yourself.
