maybe you have a ventilation setting? Is the outdoor unit coming on or just the indoor blower?

Like the poster said it’s probably some setting where the blower kicks on but not the ac.

Mine is called auto-circulate. I have it run when we crank the ac up while away from the house just to move air around. It comes on every 30 minutes or so. I like it a lot.

Yep, after I started this thread I noticed my kid turned the fan on “auto” on the app.

I’m an idiot!

Should you NOT have it on auto?

Should it be off?

Where are you living that you don’t need to have your thermostat turned on this time of the year? Maybe I need to move there.

is it a nest or other smart one? If you dont have a C wire installed it may not be getting enough power.
You can try to take it off and charge it for a while plugged into a charger or computer but for some reason its a common problem.

The on and off is the nest trying to charge itself (dont know the specifics) i had to deal with that recently. Got lucky and the C wire had been run but not hooked up and it was sort of obvious where to connect it on the unit in the attic but i would do my due diligence.

Check to make sure your outside unit doesn't have a wire making contact on the outside unit..pull off the outer cover of the unit and check...that happened to me. Also check to make sure your outside unit is cleaned out.

Many new thermostats have a humidistat as well, and will run based on just humidity levels. Mine will actually take the temperature up to 3 degrees past (lower) than the thermostat setting to handle humidity if it needs to.
