Mouse eradication advice

My sister whose husband passed away a few years ago is having trouble with mice eating the wires on her car under her hood. She lives on some property with some woods around and a carport with a garage door. We have set traps and she has tried repellant remedies to no avail. Laid some glue traps and other poisons tonight.
Is there a way to protect the wires or deter the mice from going after her car? I am baffled as to how I haven’t caught the little fricker yet.
Thanks.

Guy on YouTube has videos-MouseTrap Monday’s where he tested moth balls, foxurine,Irish Spring soap and peppermint oil.Only thing that worked was peppermint oil.I ordered bottle from Amazon,I took some plastic bottles, drilled a few hole in them, stuffed them with cotton ballsband poured peppermint oil in the bottles.I have them in my vehicles, tractors, boat and golf cart.So far,so good.
Lots of people swear by Irish Spring soap but in his videos rats were chewing on it.Guy’s name is Shawn Woods.

Had some completely chew out the wires on the lawn tractor nesting and looking for comfort in the Winter a few years back. Now I leave the cowl/hood up and wide open and no more mice. Be kind of a PITA for your sister to do that every time parks for night though. Other than that, cat or small dog to live in that area.

Buy her a bunch of nonvenomous snakes and release them around her house. Rat problem solved

Please don't use poisons or glue traps especially outside. Glue traps are indiscriminate killers, catching anythings that runs over/through the trap. Lizards, skinks, harmless snakes are all unintended victims.
Poisoned rodents are easy prey for raptors, foxes or snakes, any of which will then succumb to the poison.

Make some traps with a 5 gallon bucket and some cans. They fall in the water and drown.. or get a couple cars.

Get a couple cats. You'll never have mouse problems again. You'll also never hear song birds, but that's the trade-off.

This... Get a young male cat. He’ll clean the place up.

Glue trap worked for one. Have them reset and going to try peppermint oil after this week. Thanks.
Btw no other animals were in traps. Yet.

Peanut butter is generally the best bait but if they are eating bird seeds or something use them. I put glue traps and snap traps against the walls, they don’t like to use open areas. Don’t put them in corners either. If glue traps, put them against the walls or where they travel and place peanut butter or another bait in the middle of the trap.

We used peppermint oil soaked cotton balls around our house at the beginning of winter when they started "coming in'. Has worked great so far, havent seen one since we put them out.

People laugh at me when I recommend this but I’ve had great success. The high frequency pest repellents do work. A contractor I have used and trust was telling me his office was in his horse barn and his feed is on the other side of the wall. He had an issue with mice and installed these and didn’t have anymore issues with them. I’ve used them every since.
The only thing I’ve not had success with is bats after they’ve gotten established. If you catch them when they first move in I’ve been successful deterring them.
Most won’t believe this but it seems to have even kept wasp out of my mom’s shed.

Cats are highly overrated for mice control. My grandfather always had barn cats and still had mice,no rats though.
My uncle had mice problems in his car and got a cat, didn’t help at all.Cat apparently loved flying squirrels, would eat everything but the tail.He would leave the tails at the back door,4-5 a week.
