I have two river birches, one on each side of my house. I am constantly picking up felled twigs, but in this mornings storm, a large branch (6” in diameter) came down on my wife’s car causing substantial damage and now I am seriously considering taking them down.

The trees are about 45-60 feet, with one of them having my electrical service drop running under the canopy. I just had a few of the larger trunks that were rubbing on my roof removed, so I have one with 4 main branches and another with 6. Anyone have similar trees removed or does that kind of work and can give me a ballpark?

I know this likely won't help much but my neighbor had a 40ish ft pecan tree get struck by lighting and had to have it cut down. In her infinite wisdom (don't get me started), she cut it down to about 15 ft in hopes to salvage it. it died and got termites.

That said, it cost her about $1500 - $1800 if i recall without stump grinding. I'd plan on a ballpark of 3-4k as you'll likely need removal and stump grinding.

Two years ago I had 2 river birches (30-35 ft tall) and a Bradford pear removed, and stumps ground, in my front yard for $1,250, by a licensed and bonded tree removal service. The birches were next to the house with limbs overhanging the roof. All the trees were easily accessible.
