I thought I saw someone post a free planning/drawing tool here once? Anyone know of such a tool?
I'm going to build a free standing lean to on the side of the house. Incredibly simple construction but why waste the chance to have some fun?

Ditto to sketchup, or 1/4" grid paper. If you have a kide with an edu email, you can get free student versiins of CAD. Sketchy is goung to be the most plug and play though.

Figuring out CAD is more complicated than doing the whole thing on paper, if it is just a 1 time small project.

You're probably referring to SketchUp. Free online version or you can download a previous version.
