Installed light kit to ceiling fan - now electric tester lights up on it
I noticed it after touching it already so I know I’m not getting shocked by touching it but when I place my tester on any part of the fan it lights up indicating there’s a current going through it now.

There was no ground wire with the kit so could that be it? I’m not very knowledgeable in electricity so talk to me like I’m 5. Whenever I work with electricity I just always connect hot to hot, neutral to neutral, and ground to ground but this time there was no ground wire.

Is this dangerous or could I leave it the way it is?

I am also not an electrician by any means, but my tester has a few settings on it. One setting will light up/buzz if it just senses an electrical current nearby, not necessarily meaning the current is running through the housing of the light kit fixture if that's what you're worried about.

Mine is like that too but this time it lights up/buzzes when I get it close to any part of the fan -- EVEN THE WOODEN FAN BLADES. It's very strange.

Did you take the ceiling fan canopy off and make sure the ground wire was correctly wired? If so, I'd personally say case closed.

Does the ceiling fan box act as a ground?

The fan was already there. I just added the light.

Didn’t know you could add a light kit to an existing fan

You can but it’s a pain in the arse finding a “universal” kit that actually fits.

You need to pull the fan down and check to see if the ground wire is hooked up. The blue wire is for a + for the light fixture.

Electric testers are for dumb folks. They are ok, but one should get a meter and learn how to use it. It's not hard at all to learn.
