Hello all

My wife and I just purchased a new build and this is our 1st home. I am pretty new to lawn care essentials, so I’m looking to the experts.

1. I have a few spots in the yard that don’t attract sunlight very well. Mainly on the side of the house, which happens to be a walk way from the front yard to back yard.

Any suggestions on how to remedy this? It’s starting to get really muddy and grass is not surviving there.

2. There are a few spots in the back yard with crawfish holes and other non leveled ground. I guess I should have inspected this before buying

I want to fill in a small hole, which appears to be a snake hole (could be wrong). I also want to level off a few more areas, and that would require me digging out a few spots. Is there anything I can do to get the grass to grow back quicker? Or just wait it out?

This is in south Louisiana, FYI

What kind of grass do you have or want to grow? Some grasses like Bermuda will not grow in the shade.

Not sure I can help with your snake hole issues.

I'm really not sure

Would assume one of the following:

Bermuda Grass
Carpet Grass
Centipede Grass
St. Augustine Grass
Seashore Paspalum
Zoysia Grass

Did you just copy and paste a bunch of random grasses?

There are noticeable differences between all of them.

It's all good man.

Take a picture, we'll be able to identify it with the quickness.

And just FYI, St. Augustine is among to best to handle southern heat.

St. Aug does well down here in shade.

I’m in the same boat as you baw. Got a big mud pit where the “drainage” just sits instead of draining. I’ve been told to add sand to level it out and create a better drainage pattern

“BoxComboNoSlawXToast“

I have nothing to contribute to this thread other than the fact that you might have the best username I’ve come across on here. Well done mate.
