Same here. Natural Gas is what I’m counting on. Got two window units.
Got a good portal generator, I’ll run just what’s needed. Should be good to go. I’ve only run natural gas in it. Have another backup gasoline generator if needed.

Functional folding shutters look great and save a ton of time when protecting windows.

Any idea what a rough cost is to have these installed?

depends on the amount of windows and sized...had some installed last year and it was $2500 for 7 windows. the hinges are expensive as shite.

Just had two large trees removed that could have taken out my house

Bought a new 10k portable generator last year never used. Still have my 4600 that got me though Ida. I’m glad this tread came up, I need to run both soon.

I need to get a 2nd window unit

Not sure what a turn key installation would run. I built and installed some on my parents and grandparents homes maybe 10 years ago and they are still in great shape. Hinges were the most expensive part material wise. Also depends if you need an accordion style hinge on each side to reduce space when open, or if it can be one solid shutter per side.

If that 10kW is tri-fuel, I would consider a manual transfer switch and a soft starter (or multiple) for your A/C units. You might be able to get by without having to run extension cords and a window unit. A fellow poster here has been able to run his 5 ton unit (with soft start) on his 10kW portable. It's definitely worth looking into.
