I don't want manufactured housing - I want to build myself so that it is cheap, but durable. I want a 2000 sq. foot basic camp. Nothing fancy.

What kind of price can I get through a contractor?

It would have to be raised 10-20 feet in the air.

I'm just looking for a ball park estimate.

This isn’t going to be cheap. Can you build 2 stories on the camp? That would reduce your piling footprint and keep cost down somewhat. Is the camp on the coast or in the woods? How abalone is the labor to build?

For 2000 square ft you will be lucky to get it under 100$ sq ft. You really can’t get a house built for under about 180,000 by a contractor simply because it’s not worth their time. Labor for a bottom tier and mid tier home is about the same and for an entire house the cost difference in materials for builders grade and mid grade really isn’t that much.

That will in no way be cheap.

2000 Sf and cheap?

My camp neighbors have told me it cost them $20-30k just to drive the pilings.

Where is the location? If on the coast, unless it’s in an established area it can be hard to even get a contractor to come give a quote let alone get it cheap. The “cheap” route is buy a single wide and put it on piles. Will still probably cost you close to 100k after piling, covered deck, stairs, and some storage underneath, and limestone.
