We plan to redo our sunroom and our contractor said the wait for windows could be up to four months. They are a standard size, 3’x6’, I think. Anyway, he won’t start the project till the windows come in.

Have any of y’all waited longer than four months?

Step daughter has been waiting for standard windows since the beginning of December. It’s crazy.

He may be underselling the wait, from what I hear. But that is the standard answer right now, 16 weeks.

Have two friends building at the moment. One has been waiting more than 6mo for a garage door albeit it’s insulated and 16x14. Another has been waiting on windows 12 weeks. My contractor was on the ball when we built last year, only holdup was cabinets and brick subs and plumbers screwing things up.

We waited for 3 months for windows for our renovation.

When they came in, we discovered the contractor ordered the wrong ones.

We get to enjoy these for 3 more months until the correct ones come in. :)

New construction. Ordered in November. Supposed to ship April 11. We are lucky in that our contractor has done a great job at working around the delay and keeping the project moving, but we’re running out of things to do. We could have gotten different windows more quickly, but the brand/styles we wanted took longer.

Garage doors (Clopay) are 22-26 weeks but per the distributor those wait times are decreasing. We hope to have ours in 17-18.

Based on our recent experience with a couch, this is my fear.

We ordered a couch on Aug 3 and the estimated time of arrival was between mid-December to early January. I checked the website from time to time and it would change. Late January, early December, early February.

In October we got an email saying now backordered and not expected till March 22. Over the next five months the date never changed, and by the first of March I felt confident that it would actually be shipped soon.

March 5, new email. Now backordered again with new expected shipping date of August 26, more than a year after ordering! Ugh!

I phoned customer service and “discussed” it and asked why they hadn’t at least reached out to offer a different couch. Even a better couch, but with a discount to make a repeat customer happy. We shopped the website together and I found one I liked, but hadn’t previously considered because of price. I got her to give us a 25% discount. That was Saturday, March 5. I’m sitting on my new couch as I type.

Oh, the drama with THIS couch is that after I ordered it, I noticed that the specs said that it needed a minimum 38” wide doorway to get in. Our biggest door is 36”, but clearance is even less than that. I panicked, but figured I’d have some time to figure it out, then received notice two days later that it shipped!

Looked at websites that offered suggestions about how to get couches through doorways, told my husband he might have to take the front door off its hinges, remove the storm door, maybe even the door jamb. He balked at removing the door jamb. Called Two Men and a Truck movers and asked if they’d come and try (their minimum was too high), and the last resort was to let it sit in the garage until the sunroom was complete, since we are replacing one of the exterior doors with French doors, and there are already French doors between the sunroom and the house.

I cannot express how stressed I felt when the email came telling me the couch was being delivered that day.

And then the couch arrived and my husband and the delivery guy got it in the door without too much effort!

I ordered my windows back at the beginning of August, 2021. The sizes aren't custom, but the colors are. Brown frame on the outside, white inside. I know, I know, but that's what the wife wanted. No wife pics if there's any OTers lurking. We were originally told 16 weeks delivery, so we started inquiring this January when we heard nothing. They then said it would be March. Well here it is March, and still no windows. We have siding that needs to be installed, and it is here, but they won't do the siding until the windows are installed. It's mind numbing and frustrating.

I have a friend who works for a window manufacturer, he says lead times have been about 16 weeks, but their primary factory outside of DesMoine was hit by an F4 tornado 2 weeks ago. At least 8 weeks before they get restarted.

Lost a lot of orders on that, but kept a lot because getting in line elsewhere would be just as bad.

Shortage of labor and shortage of materials.

He said his life is miserable as he is so tired of giving bad news.

Same with us. We have bronze frames outside and white inside. That increased the wait. Straight white was shorter.

I waited about 2-3 months for the panes only on 3 windows. So you're almost there!

Ordered a non-standard window to replace the one above our front door. It was ordered the 1st of Aug.

They put it in last week.
