I realized today that I have some moles around my yard. What is the best way to get rid of these weird frickers? Traps? Poison?

Traps and killing their food source were the only thing that has worked for me.
I put down a grub killer every year and that's seems to have reduced the number that I have. They are still in and around the landscape beds at times. I typically have let those be
When they make their way into the yard with a main tunnel I'll put a trap out. I have one of the plunger style ones. There is a little bit of an art to it. Wears gloves when handling to avoid leaving your smell, pop it in the tunnel, crush each side of the tunnel and poke an air hole just beyond that. Usually that will make them want to come repair the hole.
Otherwise I've tried smoking, poison pellets and worms and never have found them that successful.

I had one last fall give me hell. I tried everything I could buy.
Finally got so pissed off that I got a boulder, sat on my porch, and waited him out for a long time.
Probably didn't kill him, but slamming that boulder down where he was moving felt good. He either died or left.

My dad's dog will point at them. My dad stands in the driveway with a frog gig all day waiting for the dog to point at one then he goes and gigs it. This method is only practical if you are retired.

Move.
I do pretty much like Puffoluffagus. It’s always a battle, though.

Does anyone know if they typically burrow at night or during the day? I have lots of them. Considering using explosives all over they yard.

Bookmarked
Moving into a house today and I can see the tunnels all over the back yard.
Once I get settled in, its WAR

Mine have always been more active at night or wee hours of the AM.

Only thing I found that works is to kill the grubs and an active cat.
I feed a stray cat outside and she wrecks shop on the moles if they ever poke their heads out of the ground

I’ve never had good luck with the traps. I bought some basically smoke flares from lowes that you light and stick in the hole. I don’t know if I got them but I haven’t seen any new burrows as of yet. Got stray cat that hangs around the house but that fricker is worthless when I comes to catching moles.

Cats love moles. Must be their version of steak. I have 3 outdoor cats and moles are history.

Kill their food source. Spectracide Triazicide granules should work.
