House Plans-Drafter or Architect
Posted by thatguy777 on 7/8/19 at 10:39 am00
I recently purchased a lot in Baton Rouge and I am looking for someone to draft some plans to build. This will be a fairly simple house to design.
I have heard that getting a drafter to design the house and then getting an architect to stamp the plans is the less expensive route to take. Does anyone have experience with this? What are the differences in cost?
Also, if anyone has a recommendation for a drafter or architect I would gladly accept it.

Yes I do. Send me your email and I’ll give you one. He just did mine for a renovation. Very professional and affordable

We used Pelican Drafting.
No complaints. Met with us to tweak plans as many times as we needed and charged per sq ft.

You don't necessarily have to have an architect stamp them. Depends where you live at.

How do I determine if I need an architect to stamp it? Where can I find this information?

The Parish who gives the building permits can tell you. It may not be a requirement based on your parish. However some subdivisions may require it to be stamped. I believe everything above 100 MPH wind zone needs to be stamped. (I may have that number wrong)
